ign says the final boss battle is "unfairly long and difficult." i like the sound of that.
I second that feeling.

First, you can get 1000 Points for market value with a debit/credit card on the Wii Shop Channel. If you're too young to have such a card, ask your parents to use one of theirs while you pay them back in cash.
Second, acts from Sonic 3 & Knuckles (which are probably similar in length to Sonic 4) commonly take more than 5 minutes.
Third, are you really that good of a Sonic player that you will never die or fail a special stage, especially on your first playthrough? The final secret boss is said to be especially challenging.
Fourth, why would you only play through the game once, especially with Time Attack leaderboards?
Fifth, if you skip this episode to get Episode II, you'll be lost concerning the overall story.
First of all: sorry for the negative post yesterday, I had a bad day. Yesterday I focused on the downsides, today I will look at the positive side of the game.
The problem with the points has been solved, I had some Club Nintendo stars which I could trade in for Wii Points. My parents don't have a credit card. My parents taught me that having a credit card actually costs money, so neither I nor my parents have one.
I watched some gameplay videos and I noticed that some acts of the game could be cleared within 3 minutes, but those are probably the first acts then... I think the time for one playthrough is still 2 hours. However, I might want to replay them for: -Fun -Finding different ways to the goal -Time attack scores -If the rumor is true, getting all 7 chaos emeralds gives you the ability to change to Super Sonic, which is yet another reason to replay the stages I think I will replay the game at least 8 times because of the above reasons. So that is 2x8=16 hours. That is enough according to my 'rule'.
About never failing: I heard the game was pretty easy (and you could get 100+ lives easiliy in the casino zone) except for the final boss. So I don't know about that yet...
And yes, I will miss something in the overall story and it is almost certain some save data can be carried over, so I'll buy it this Friday in the end .
-The game has 4x4 stages (and boss fights). Lets say a stage takes 5 minutes. That's 16x5=80 minutes. There are 7 special stages. Lets say each of them takes 4 minutes. In total, the whole thing will be: 80+7x4=108 minutes. That's almost 2 hours. I think that's a bit too short for a game that comes with a price tag of €15. (I have a rule for myself (to make sure I invest my money well) that says that the amount of €'s I spent on a game must be equal or less to the number of hours I play it.)
So you're going to get through the entire game without dying once, know exactly how to access the special stages immediately, get them all right on your first try, only ever play the game once, never lose a boss fight, never explore any of the levels and most importantly: you skipped the fact that €15 on 2 hours of game (which is obviously completely unreasonable on the amount of time sonic 4 will actually take to finish) is better on something thats actually fun than €15 on something thats... well, not fun. Then again, I guess its up to you

Playing it now, got done attempting the special stage, and wow, looks like it's gonna be worth the $15, least for me, got a long ways to go before I can even get those emeralds, managed to make it to the end of special stage, but then it became pure evil. Won't say no more. >_<
Wow, I was beset by nostalgia when I first switched it on. I couldn't stop a smile creeping up my face when I saw Sonic flash over the Sega logo and hearing the Sega vocal jingle.
I'm overall very pleased with the game. I have a few niggling issues with the game, but I can overlook them for the most part. Definitely seems to be worth the 1500 points!
Playing it now and it's, thankfully, pretty awesome. Sega got Sonic right in atmosphere, tone, and general fun, but his physics are a bit different than the Genesis games and it takes some getting used to. All in all, I'm glad I spent the 15 bucks on it.
My parents don't have a credit card. My parents taught me that having a credit card actually costs money, so neither I nor my parents have one.
What's wrong with a debit card?
Also, as long as you get a credit card with no annual fee and always pay it off in full each month, a credit card doesn't cost anything extra, and it's important for establishing a credit rating or you'll have a tough time getting a home mortgage.
Anyway, so far I've beaten Splash Hill and Casino Street Zones while nabbing one Chaos Emerald (and failing to get the second one), and I really like it. The levels and bosses are nostalgic yet different, and there's some sections that are pretty challenging and will cost most players at least one life on their first playthrough (although they do go overboard with the free lives in Casino Street). The homing attack fits in well. My only problem is what happened to Sonic's acceleration? He starts out just walking and takes something like 2 seconds to get up to a decent speed.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
I've read a couple of reviews and it seems like these levels are "remakes" or "remixes" of previous Sonic levels? How much bigger are these levels then the one's their homaging? I don't want to spend $15 for a 2.5D version of Sonic 1 with fewer zones. I thought this was going to be an all new game reminiscent of the Genesis Classics, not an expansion pak.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
