I'd also add that you need to have updated your System Menu to 4.0 or above to support SDHC cards. Otherwise the maximum is a 2GB standard SD card.
Personally, 2GB is ample unless you've got a heck of a lot of WiiWare and Virtual Console games. Given that the maximum size of a Wiiware game is about 43 MB, and many will be a lot smaller, that's around 40-odd before you've got to think about getting anything larger.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...
Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour can only use the 1GB and 2GB cards. Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero can use the SDHC cards as well as the 1GB and 2GB SD cards.

1) Do the SD cards have to be made by Nintendo just to work with the Wii and store VC/WiiWare games?
2) What sizes of SD cards does the Wii accept?
3) Is it possible to have a multi-purpose SD card? A card that stores Wiiware/VC games, photos, music etc?
i bought a 32GB HCSD Card for £10 free delivery last year from china. it stores every thing VC,Wiiware, nintendo channels(although channels are on dash board). Endless ocean 2 advertises 32GB HCSD card, what for i dont know. no regrets, you wont one get one,its like having a 32 GB HDD wii.

1) If they are made by Nintendo, you are certain that they will work. Otherwise, most SD cards work and some not. If you have a mini/micro SD card, you can treat it as a normal SD card by placing it in its adapter. 2) The Wii accepts SD cards from 32 GB and lower, however in some games (Smash Bros. Brawl) only cards from 2 GB and below work. 3) Yes, just as you can store different things on your Hard Drive, it is also possible to put anything you want on a SD card as long as there is enough room.
If you load a game from the SD card enough times, will the game directly launch instead of going to the loading screen?
That's what happened with Paper Mario today. It didn't need to load, it just launched.
After you launch a game from the SD card menu, it is removed from the Wii after a certain period of time. If you launch it again before it is removed, there will be no need to copy anything.
