For $75 you get three figures with it. You will have to buy at least one additional figure to be able to beat the game because of the different abilities they have. There are 32 in all ($8 each). I like that the figures hold all your character data so you can use them with the 3DS or PC versions of the game.

Wait you NEED to buy them??? If you do its about go down. Why do they insist on ruining Spyro

I'm personally excited as hell for this. Hans Zimmer did the music, two of the writers from Toy Story wrote the script, and there's some good voice actors on board

What ? Oh man ! The more I look stuff about this game, the more I'm interested in it ! Gonna have to see if Father Christmas thinks I'm not too old for this ^^'

You don't NEED to buy anything - you can complete the bare bones of the game with just the three figures that come with the game. If you want to complete all 125 challenges, you will need to buy five other figurines; one of each other element. The game certainly doesn't force you to buy anything else to get to the end of the game.

When will you all stop thinking of this as a Spyro game? All it is is name-dropping. They used the Spyro name because it's an established IP, THAT'S IT. And you are NOT REQUIRED to buy anything outside of the starter pack unless you want to see everything there is to see, in which case you'll need SOME BUT NOT ALL of the 32 figures and perhaps a few "map pack" type figures. It's like any other micro-transaction game. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go figure out if it's any good, cause I really want a Stealth Elf for meself.

Unfortunately, I don't think people will stop, as much as they should. You don't even need to play as Spyro in the game (I've only used him for areas that Magic-Types have access to!). To see 100% of the main game, you need one Skylander of each element, so you will need five more, but to complete the main story, it only takes the starter pack.

I personally find the game enjoyable, as you know, albeit a bit slow-paced at the start. I'd say it's worth a look-in!

Are you meaning elements of Spyro gameplay, Sackboy? If so, which "series" of Spyro games are you referring to, specifically?

I bought this today for my sister's birthday and it is just as great as I had hoped and hyped! My entire family is having a blast with it.

And it may not have classic Spyro gameplay, it certainly has the style and charm of the first three. The only thing that keeps it from REALLY feeling like a Spyro game is that he doesn't have much of a role in the story. I mean, it makes sense that it's like that what with the ability to switch characters, but it would have been nice to have him always in the cutscenes with speaking roles, regardless of who the players are playing as. Maybe in the sequel!

I'll pick it up when it's half price after Christmas.

Finished the game yesterday - it was a great dungeon crawler, but there were a couple of ridiculous and obtuse bits in the last level. I'd definitely recommend it, especially to play with a friend!

Hi everyone! Just want to ask you guys one question; is this game can be played without nunchuck? (for example with classic controller or just the wii controller sideways). I really eant to buy it, but if its only with nunchuck, i wont.. I need someone who actually has the game and can try it... Thank you

For some obscure reason this site (among other Nintendo sites) refuses to review the Wii and 3DS version! Well, I probably would not have bought it anyway, because if you want everything it will cost much money (though it's a original concept with the action figures and the portal, I admit that). Besides I have a feeling the actual gameplay isn't that special.

It's strange though that the PS3/Xbox360 versions got quite some reviews. I mean: Nintendo devices are the real family devices. Much more then PS3/Xbox360. Yet the Nintendo versions get the least reviewed. Strange world!

A other Wii game that doesn't get reviewed by this site and other Nintendo sites is The Kore gang. A real shame since it looks very interesting!!

I've noticed that about a lot of new Wii games lately, not just on this site though, there are a ton of games this year for the Wii aren't being reviewed anywhere. I'd much rather have a review about a new game than a review about an old Gameboy game... it's nice that Nintendo Life is taking the time to review them for people that haven't played them before but those games have been around for 20 years and there is more than enough ways to figure out if you like them or not.

I tested it for you. There is absolutely no way to play it without the nunchuck.

The game controls work very well with using the nunchuck and as much as I like the classic controller, if it were an option, I'd probably still prefer the nunchuck with this game. It wouldn't benefit at all with using a classic controller. I wouldn't not buy it just because of that. You sound like my wife

Haha, thanks.
You know I was just curious about it, because for me the old fashioned playing modes are more comftable, but if you say it worth it, well, I'll buy it. But I'm still hoping Nintendo will stop relase games what work with only nunchuck.
Thank you for your help and for your quick reply!

I think for a game like Skylanders, having the multi-directional function of the nunchuk is beneficial. I can envision that there's a lot of Wii Remote waggling, judging by actions performed in the PS3 version, but it's still a good game regardless!

Hey, just thought I would mention that Toys-R-Us is having a sale on this game and all the figures until tomorrow (11-26-11) at closing. The game itself is 20 bucks off for all platforms (X-Box, PS3, WII, 3DS, and PC) and the figures are buy one get one free. So, if you buy the three packs you get 6 figures for 20 bucks and if you buy the singles you get 2 figures for 8 bucks. Pretty good if you ask me. I bought all the different three packs they had. And, I bought the 3DS version so I could have Dark Spyro.

Best Buy is also having a sale. All platforms are 80 and it comes with the starter pack, the Eruptor/Chop Chop/Bash 3 character pack, and the Pirate adventure pack. I bought the X-Box version of that.
