Ok, I have sent my Wii to get repaired a grand total of three times so far. I say "so far" because it looks like I may have to send it in again due to it's most recent problem. I however, really don't wanna send it in again considering the last time I did, all my game saves were erased including Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros. It was a very tough thing for me to get over and I really don't want to have to go through it again. That said, I am desperately hoping mabey there is some chance that someone here may have the answer to my problems without the need for a repair. So the problem is with the Wii's power. Here is an exact play by play to give you a good idea of what is happening:

ME: Plugs in console
SYSTEM RESPONSE: Turns on with no prompting from any power button.
ME: Hits power button on console.
SYSTEM RESPONSE: None.
ME: Turns power off via the Wiimote's power button.
SYSTEM RESPONSE: Turns off..............then comes back on, then off, then on, then off, then on, etc........until I unplug the system.

So yeah. this wouldn't be too big a problem if it weren't for the fact that the system also randomly shuts down in the middle of use. And before I get 1,000,000, responses saying something about the power cord, I tried 2 power cords, both of which work on my mom's console but cause the same issues for mine so it's definitely the Wii itself. I want to avoid a repair like the plague so if anyone thinks they have a solution to this problem, please help.

Can't you move your saves to an sd card?

Yeah, but only certain saves. Namely, games without any online integration. I already copied all such games to my SD card as a precaution but the big ones that I really want kept safe, Brawl and Animal Crossing, both have online functionality so they cannot be copied or moved to SD.

Well, nothing like this has happened to me, so I wouldn't know. Not too long ago, my cousin's puppy chewed on the cord for the gamecube controller, and the controller kept making the wii go off.

Oddly enough that has also happened to me in the past. But it was with a wireless third party controller so I assumed it was because it wasn't made by Nintendo.

Well, this was a 1st party one, and it only messes up because the wires were chewed on. Death awaits with nasty, pointy teeth!

Wow that really sucks. So is this the same fault every time and Nintendo just aren't sorting properly? Is the system out of warranty? Obviously if you have downloads then you should deal with Nintendo directly, but at this point I should think they'd be giving you a new Wii with all the problems. I'd phone support rather than email; if you've got reference numbers for past cases then supply them and make your position clear that you've had a tough time. I'd hope they would do the right thing!

Did you homebrew your Wii? Did you do something to it to make it play DVD's or something? Because if you did anything to it besides what it was originally designed for then could be your problem.

@Sean Aaron: Well the last time I sent it in they did guve me a new system, that's why I lost all my games saves. This power problem is actually a brand new issue. It used to be freezing and CD drive issues. Luckily for me, they reset my warranty every time so Iv'e never actually paid for a repair.
@NuevoVida: Nope. Being a Nintendo fanatic I would nerver tamper with such things

Did you already get very far in your games?

I feel for you man, I got my wii repaired and my brawl data was gone, and I was only missing like 10 trophies.

I've had to get my Wii repaired twice. The first one was the Brawl glitch. It messed up the disk scanner. And I just got Galaxy when it happened. Luckily, my saves stayed intact. The second time was when it wouldn't eject or take disks. Still, saves are safe.

Back up your saves using Waninkoko's Save Game Manager. This requires you to hack your Wii, but it is well worth it. When my Wii broke, they had to replace my entire motherboard, and all my saves were gone. I have to get it fixed again though, because my fixed Wii died an hour after I got it

I thought if you hacked your wii they wouldn't repair it for you.

yeah, that's what I thought. And if you have to hack it to get it done, then I think there's a reason Nintendo didn't want to do something like that.

I think they would fix a hacked Wii but they'd make you pay for it.

That's good to know since mine is both hard and soft modded, I wouldn't like to have to spend £70 to get it fixed but it's better than losing all my VC and WiiWare.

That's a surcharge; given the normal repair rate is £70 for a major issue you're talking £140 all-in. Of course if you've got a raft of downloads I suppose it's still cheaper than buying a new system!

If I have to get mine repaired again the HBC is getting removed prior to posting; it's just not worth it to me.
