I never get the whole awesome atmosphere of the Prime series...for me Other M is too much fun to put down the Wiimote. And the hate on Other M is getting REALLY old, the series really needed a change from the FPS perspective.
Oh and other thing what's with everybody complaining about the First Person View on Other M? Oh i can't move on First Person, this game is ruined i don't know but in Zelda: Ocarina Of Time you can watch everything in First Person but you can't move, Banjo-Kazzoie was the same...but noooooo Other M is ruined for following an established path..LOL
You don't get the awesome atmosphere of Prime?
*got sorry...
Wait ok. So your saying you've played the Prime series and you weren't impressed with the breath taking atmosphere?
I'm not saying it's not a good game, lord knows how much time i have spend on Metroid Prime Trilogy BUT no i don't understand all the praise for a game that's too easy to get lost (i know i know that's the beauty of it) and the backtracking it's just too much.... i don't know, like i said on the survey in Club Nintendo, i'm just happy that the whole first person view is over, like it or not you have to admit it was getting old...
Oh man like i said in the Club Nintendo survey..please bring back the first person adventure aspect of Metroid. The games were beautiful in look, style, and gameplay.

I predict you saying that it is not better than Prime.

i originally posted here that I preferred Prime, but after a 2nd playthrough of Other M, I feel like they're both outstanding games in their own ways. I wouldn't put one above the other, because they're such different experiences, in gameplay and in pacing. I can see how some people would really take to one and not the other, but I really enjoyed them both.
@Kingbuilder yea I was kidding. kind of weird that they took out shooting the doors, but it didn't ruin anything for me
Lol, i noticed the same thing about not shooting the doors (not that i really care one way or the other); i reflexively still shoot at them as i approach. =)
I haven't played Metroid: Other M alot, but of what I have played I can say lots of things about it. First of all I will start defending all of the aspect that lots of reviews and people criticized.
The voice acting is great, it gives samus a nice personality, and also add a deeper story to the game.
I have read people say that the game is short, short but great. They didn't make the game shorter because they were lazy, they just can't add more things to the disk! I was also waiting for a multiplayer, because the one of metroid prime 2: echoes was great, but I really don't need it, because of the fact that the game got so great graphics and great cutscenes, that the longer of the game or the lack of multiplayer isn't important anymore.
People find stupid that samus can't use all their powers because Adam doesn't say that it is OK, at first I also find it stupid, but it is not stupid, it is not stupid because he is no longer working alone, he is in a mision, where everyone follow the orders of the general, not just samus, everyone. For the safety and for the succes of the mision. At least it makes more sense than a inexplicable explosion that destroyed all the powers of samus-suit for a extrange reason, or not?
I also hear people complaining that samus recover energy and misils with "concentration", not very logic, but if we are talking about logic, samus can be resting, recovering energy, and he just takes a moment to recharge her misiles. It is more logic than a monster nobody knows appear and when you kill him for some strange reson, or casuality, he drops the exactly tipe of misiles that samus-suit suses.
People also say that the exploration in Other: M was not good, but it is actually very good, maybe there are no different types of visors, like there is no scan visor, I must admit that it was a little difficult to find things to examine with the Other M's first person visor, because the items don't turn red or green or blue. But when samus uses the first person mode, the exploration you can have there is great, you can watch to all direction, and because of the fact the thing that you need to explore doesn't turn red, it makes the exploration to be more like a real exploration.
Some people say that they didn't like the doors because they don't open when you shoot at them, I actually find these doors much greater that the ones of the prime series, they are just easier to use, they open allways, not like the prime doors, where you constantly have problem opening them. Its nice to shoot at the doors, but it is not nice that they don't open.
The last thing im gonna say is that the map in Other M is great, much simplier and easier to use that those maps of the prime series where everyhting was extremly confusing.
The only thing I can complain about Other M, is the lack of the great music the prime series have.
Im not saying that prime series are bad, they are very good, but I think that the metroid games start being a 2D adventure, and I want them to keep being like that, the first person adventure the prime game are is fine, but it is not the metroid experience, Metroid: Other M is!
Just so people know. When doors don't open in Prime, it's because it's loading not because it didn't notice your shot. And Other M has times where it stops everything to load the next area.
@lockelocke, your wrong, other M need the same disk trilogy needs and smash bors needs, is was a special disk (didn't remeber its name) It was because the tons of cutscenes we see and also because of the voice acting, I remeber a interview where they say that to make the game fit the disk they need to cut some cutscenes.
@armoredghor, I didn't know that, anyways I found no reason to complain that doors that open with shots are better than automatic doors.
Probably one of the only complaints I have about Other M is missle use and collection. I mean, what's the point of expanding your missle tank to 80 if you just recharge after you use 10 of them anyway? Concentration of missles wasn't a great idea in my opinion. Concentrating your health, however, I liked because it takes more strategy and adds suspense. I also liked the idea of Accel Charges, those were useful, and sometimes necessary, to access certain optional rooms.
But I really wish Wii Optical Discs could hold more memory. Oh well, more reason to turn to Blu-Ray next gen.
Oh, and about mulitplayer, I really don't think a multiplayer mode would work well into Other M. I really enjoy playing the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes mulitplayer, but with Other M, here's how I would see it: (P1 shoots, P2 dodges, P2 shoots, P1 dodges, P1 fires missle, P2 dodges, after a half-hour, P1 finally runs low on health, P1 concentrates, P1 now has full health). I guess they could alter the rules in some way, though.

I agree with everything you said. Even though there wasn't a lot of good music in Other M I think it was very fitting and fulfilled its purpose. The automatically opening doors were also a huge comfort for me because I didn't have to waste a charge beam on them.

Waste a charge beam? But you have an unlimited supply of them. Unless you're thinking of Echoes...
Yeah probably he was thinking of echoes, you need to spend light beam, dark beam, again and again, and the enemies also reaper after each door, and it was frustating.
Hmmm now that I think it again, mltiplayer won't work very well on other M

I think if Other M wasnt so linear I would say it, but sense ive been going back through trilogy and enjoy the exploration factor, I'm going to have to say Prime.
