@ comment 39, re: downloading the demo or not It's free. Why would you not get it? It's free. I downloaded all the demos except for the one game I already had. They're free. The demos, I mean. They're free.
Tried the demo. For someone who dislikes Pokemon, I enjoyed it as much as I thought I would - the concept seemed like more of a fresh take on the franchise and I'm happy to say that I was pleased with what I saw.
The demo seems to let you play a whole lot of the game, surprisingly. I don't know that there is much depth to it, but for some reason running around bashing A is very fun. I might have to get this myself. Didn't expect to like it at all.
I got it. The demo convinced me and for the most part features Pokémon from the first series which is nice for old school gamers like me. (No need to worry about the other 350 some Pokémon) EDIT: _If you input any passwords before you beat the battle arena of the stage rank the game will lower the Pokémon’s intended rank to one rank less than the required level to proceed into the battle royale of the current area. When you beat the rumble arena of that rank your Pokémon from the password should raise in rank as well. _(For example the Blastoise password from Nintendo Week says it has 1550 power when you pick it up but appears as 199 in the Rank B area. The reason is that the B area requires a rank of 200 or higher to enter the battle royale so to prevent entry by passwords the game resets the ranks to one level lower the one require.) EDIT (AGAIN): I just beat the game and apparently the game features more Pokémon from other seasons at higher difficulty levels. The game gets more challenging as you quickly get overwhelmed by enemy Pokémon so you actually have to put some thought in your actions.
It's somewhat repetative, but that doesn't matter as much in the beat-'em-up genre. I played the game for 4 hours straight tonight without getting bored, and I only got up to the A rank (spending a lot of time collecting for trade-in evolutions)..
I also traded in some Pokémon to get a Zapdos.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
That sounds awesome Bulbasaurus Rex. Between this and NSMB wii I think I am gonna have my hands tied.
Has anyone played multiplayer yet? Is this a game that my girlfriend could potentially enjoy playing? She used to enjoy levelling up my pokemon if we were watching a movie, so she isn't against pokemon. That said, she probably isn't super keen unless it has some cool stuff to offer!
You people taking over a thread from october. Used to be about 200 views until the game came out now 1100. Around 23 comments before game was released, now 60 comments. Better then making another thread of the same idea though.
People who are saying "is this worth 1500pts, if not then pass" ok.. you people seem to have unlimited money and buy retail games for $50 dollars (ehemNew super mario brothers Wiiehem) and some old retail games for $20-30dollars but not wii points; 1500pts is 15 dollars virtually. If you spend as much money for one retail game on wii spoints, you could get 5000pts with credit card or 4000pts and save 7 dollars (tax) by buying wii points at the store. Why is the decision to buy a game on wiishop for 15 dollars hard? Im tired of hearing others acting like their cheap but can afford 3 times as much for a retail game. Oh yeah don't use the "you can't sell it back" excuse, your not losing much, at the least you lose is 5 dollars, at the most you lose 15 dollars for a game on wiishop. When you sell back a retail game after you play it a day or two, the retailers will buy it at the most $20 less then the new copy.

I agree that some people (including me) shouldn't be thinking 1500 points is a lot, because it isn't. But then if you look the other way, you think "Wow, only $15! And look, Lostwinds for only $10! This other game looks cool, too!". You'll be out of money before you know it with a pile of games you don't nessecarily play. IMHO, get games that are fun, don't worry if it's too expensive (Wiiware/VC games, I mean). Avoid games that look bad, even if it's really cheap.
How's the difficulty in this game? From what I played it was ridiculously easy. Do the bosses ever get more complex than simply dodging them and mashing the 2 button?
