http://games.ign.com/articles/101/1019337p1.html found this on IGN and it made me feel better about Nintendos hardcore audience! it talked about casual game sales going down, which means hardcore games coming soon! read it for yourself!

Mario platformers not doing it for the casual gamers? Why back in my day, gamers couldn't get enough of the Mario games and Contra was as hardcore as it got! Those were our first games and we never looked back.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
I don't see why Nintendo would make more hardcore games (that don't have "brand recognition" like Mario, Zelda, etc.) when barely anyone buys them in comparison to "casual" titles. Looks at the sales of Punch-Out!! and ExciteBots for example.
I was going to post this actually, Nintendo needs causual gamers or else they might have not been around today, or as popular. Casual gamers aren't obsessed with graphics, and Nintendo's prices are great compared to other companies. And also Nintendo doesn't even make half the casual games on the Wii and DS, from what I see its third party companies. I think that most of you need to chill because genius takes time, the games will come when they are ready.
I think he kinda missed the point at the start. I do agree that Natal created a nice buzz about the XBox 360 but it definitely remains to be seen if Microsoft can capitalise on that. I also don't think for one second that Nintendo really has any reason to be concerned about Natal.
He then mentions that Nintendo are trying to capture all audiences and have done so once with Mario Kart Wii... which is true. But then he goes on to suggest that their next attempt, New SMB Wii, is going to fall short because casual gamers don't buy Mario Platformers. He might be right I mean the DS version is only the second best selling DS game of all time. If he is right then Mario is certaintly not something Nintendo would bother to try and use to sell systems. Mario doesn't mean anything to the casual gamer afterall: http://nintendo.com.au/
I do agree with the end of the article but. I didn't buy the Wii for 360 games and after seeing that The Conduit and Madworld were the same old 360 games I didn't buy a 360 for my interest was gone. There is a reason why there was a heap of hype behind The Force Unleashed on Wii before it came out and its the same reason why there is a heap of hype behind Red Steel 2 now. I think most "core" Wii gamers want to try something different. It doesn't necessarily have to not be "hardcore" to interest a Wii gamer like myself, it just needs to have a clean look and be different. I think that was about the only thing the guy writing this article actually got.
