We serriously need some new discussion posts; so who got the game New Play Control: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat today?! Come on... be cheery and say you actually did!
It's making me sad NO ONE is POSTING in my new thread here?!
I'll rent it. Currently broke, looking forward to Punch Out, and I like supporting new titles rather than rehashes of old games. Does look fun, though. I missed out on the original.
I'm broke as well, and there are a ton of games that are on my wishlist. This is near the top though, I mus say-- especially because I missed this game the first time it came out due to the price tag ($70; $20 extra for bongos.)
I wouldn't get this, mainly because the original GCN bongos actually give you at least some feedback as you tap your hands on the Bongo Skin, I can't see that happen with this version, plus I've been told that it doesn't work with the bongo controllers. So it's pretty much a throw away game. IMO Pikmin 1&2, Metroid Prime 1&2 and Chibi Robo are the better picks in the NPC series.
The bongos ruled. I never played DKJB unfortunately, but Donkey Konga got many, many hours of bongo beating. This is one case where I don't know that New Play Control would even be an improvement. Haven't played it though.
Why not? It was a great game on the GCN, the problem that I see with the Wii version is that there's no bongo controller support, which defeats the purpose of the game.
Well, isn't the Wii able to duplicate the bongos through motion control?
True, but think about it, you're just Air Drumming, you don't get the same kind of feedback as you would from Bongo Controller. It's not like the Wii Remote will flick upwards when it makes a virtual impact? It's just not the same thing, you might as well go out and find the actual GCN version with Bongo Drums.
If I remember reading correctly, this remake won't even be going for the same control scheme at all, nor any semblance of it. I believe it may even use the nunchuck's stick for basic movement.
Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense. Wii FC: 8378 9716 1696 8633 || "How can mushrooms give you extra life? Get the green ones." -
Yes it reportedly uses the analog for basic movement...I imagine (speculating) it uses some motion for some of the attacks....
I loved the game on Gamcube, one of the bes platformers I have played - and I used the GC controller, and it worked fine....
The GC game swas built on 'beat running' and combos, so if you played with the GC controller with that in mind, it was not akward...in fact the c-stick was much easier and faster to use than clapping.
Hardcore, casual = marketing. The real divide is between arcade and narrative games.
I saw it at EBgames today for 30, but decided to get Elite Beat Agents! So far its a great game. Love it
Good call! (IMO) However, in this thread, no one has stated any impressions of DK:JB NPC...please do. Its the one NPC I am interested in.

[21:15] pixelman: OB knows what he's asking about.
I had Jungle Beat on the GC I liked it but the bongos were fustrating at times. I often wished I could just use a normal control setup or at least an easier one - therefore this NPC interests me.
