Topic: Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 - advice please

This isn't really a Wii question but here goes:

After the huge disappointment of the recent Wii version of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, I seriously thought about buying an Xbox 360 or PS3 just to play the HD version. However, I can't justify buying a new (or even second-hand) console just for one game.

I read some reviews of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 which came out on PS2 and GameCube ages ago. The reviews are good with the PS2 version getting generally better scores.

My question is: Is the game any good, and, if so, which should I get, the PS2 or GameCube version?

The PS2 version is a bit better but I would have to get up in the loft, find my old PS2, connect it all up, have it take up space under my TV, etc, etc.

The GameCube version - well, I can just play it on my Wii - I already have GameCube controllers.

So, is the PS2 version so much better than the GameCube version to make it worth all the trouble of setting up my old PS2 and the inevitable earache from the missus? Or is the GameCube version good enough to not bother?
