Now the first thing people will say is "do you trust the people around you?" Well, it's day 2, so I don't know yet, but I was thinking of brining it next weekend. I wanted your opinion. Did you have game systems or other expensive things stolen at college?

QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
There he goes, Firkraag. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. - My VGscore

Are you in a dorm? Do you have a roommate?
Do you trust him to use your things if you're not there and if said roommate will let other people use it?
Do you lock your door at all times and does your roommate have the same philosophy?
If yes to all the above, I think you'll be fine. Just as long as you don't have a situation where the master keys for the entire floor are "stolen" and various thefts take place. (It happened my first year, I luckily had nothing taken. My friend had one DVD stolen, and another friend had a few DVD's taken. But that was an extreme case. )

Well I was in a shared house in my uni days and, whilst I had my own room with a lock on it, my housemates insisted on only using the top latch on the front door of the house. They had a go at me every time I used the main lock (since it meant an extra 5 seconds to get in the house). Well eventually someone kicked the door down one day when we were all out and stole most of my housemate's electronics (including laptops and game consoles). Mine were fine as I also locked my room door - a big case of "I told you so" if ever there was one.
So yeah - if you keep your stuff locked away and don't be lazy with security it should be fine. Find out what your housemates are like first, though. If they'd rather not lock up because it's easier for them, don't bring anything valuable with you as it's just inevitable then.
Do you have your computer there? Probably. A laptop's going to be worth more and easier to take than a wii. I would just worry about your roommate playing it all the time when you want to. Lock your doors when nobody's around of course, but you should do that anyways. (My campus was pretty safe, though there were always a few thefts a year. tbh, we never locked our door after the first few months, the worst things that happened to anyone I knew personally were pranks from hallmates). I'm not sure where you're going to school, but hopefully if security is any good, you shouldn't have a problem as long as you keep your door locked when you're away.
Edit: The bigger concern is how you will use the wii. Smash Bros. party with hallmates on weekends? Great! Playing Metroid Prime Trilogy when you could be doing homework or getting involved in clubs and activities or just out and about on campus meeting new people? Not so good. The Wii came out my senior year, and it had a way of making people not care about a whole lot else (although, senior year also generally has this effect on people, so...)
So far, the main things seem to be that as long as the door is locked and I trust my roomate (Yes I have one in my dorm) that it's unlikely to be stolen. I'm also considering unplugging and hiding the system itself when I"m gone.

I guess it depends where you're going to college, and, yes, how much you trust people. My roommate last year is also my best friend, and we had a NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, and a Wii in our dorm, with all of our games, and we had no problems. All you have to do is keep your door locked, and make sure your roommate is someone you can trust
First of all, glad to see you're adjusting to college life well thus far. With regards to your Wii, take some precautionary measures, O_B. Take pictures of everything Wii-related, including what's on your SD Card Menu. Also be sure to backup your save files on the SD Card and take it out of the Wii whenever you're not using it.
To be honest, I'm not sure if I'd reecommend dishing out your Wii until you observe the general behaviour of your roommate and test out his honest practices with other possessions you may have. Also be sure to see what possessions he has. It would be safe practice to hide it if at all possible. Also, why not set up Parental Controls on your system for the Wii Shop so he doesn't "accidentally" spend your Wii Points.
So I did bring my Wii for the 2nd week of school. So far, things have gone well, I've even eBayed a Wii game and started playing that as well. When I'm gone from the room for long periods, I unplug the system and hide it and all controllers and games. (Too lazy to do the same with plugs, etc.) The door is usually locked as well.
Now, what games are best for 2player multiplayer? I have (not including singleplayer games) HOTD:overkill, RE:UC, Brawl, TC: New Blood, Raving Rabbids 1, Red Steel, and a few WW games.
