I stopped playing Lost Levels after realizing that 8-4 wasn't the last level. I just couldn't take it anymore

ok, so i just beat mr. big in Art Of Fighting. now im fighting this ? chump (i guess people on the internet call him Mr. Karate or something)... it is the most impossible thing i have ever played. Its worse than that week i downloaded Ikaruga on Live Arcarde; hands down the hardest game i have ever played (at leat the hardest final boss)... how can you even beat this chaunce, HIS SPECIAL GAUGE NEVER RUNS OUT! i feel i will never find out what happens to Ryo's sister, good grief!

I'm kind of surprised that no one has mentioned Ecco the Dolphin, but I guess that not many people have downloaded that game. The game is brutal, really, if the difficulty was more balanced then this would be one of the best games on the VC ATM. The graphics are sweet, the gameplay is unique and the music is superb, so yeah I'm really bummed that it's just way too hard.

Another game that should be mentioned is Punch-Out!!, although the opponents will get easier if you practice enough. It's just that the difficulty increases a lot after you beat Piston Honda for the 2nd time. Popinski is cruel and that arrogant laugh makes me feel like a loser. =P

@Mama Luigi: No, Super Metroid isn't very hard. It's in fact a very balanced game in difficulty just like the Zelda games.

Damn it's hard... nah, but the game is very confusing and i skip alot of the items on accident so it gets even harder.

SMB: The Lost Levels, Sin & Punishment, Zelda II, and Ninja Gaiden. NG's probably the only game I'm afraid of playing...

And Super Mario RPG? Difficult? HAHAHA, that's a good one! The only way that game could possibly be difficult is if you're not using the action commands, or you're playing it with a blindfold. Defeated enemies are constantly giving you combat benefits (extra turn, full health), and you get a freebie from practically every item you use in battle. It's one of the easiest games the VC has to offer!

There are some games which just suck so bad that playing them is a challenge in itself...like Altered Beast and China Warrior, and then there are some games like Contra III which are just plain brutal.

I'm gonna say Milon's secret castle because I dare you to figure out what the hell is going on.

Good luck with that last part!

Try jump kicking off the wall, he tends to go a bit too projectile-happy to bother about blocking it. He's actually one of the easier opponents in the game. (and yeah, his name is Mr. Karate)

Seriously, you can always backtrack and you have to backtrack!
I don't know what your problem is, maybe you're talking about Metroid 1?

I think Super Mario RPG is a very hard game, but for all the wrong reasons. Right until the first boss, I faced every single enemy that I came in sight of. That alone made me want to stop playing because of the boredom that soon ensued. I faced the boss with full health and all the stuff you can find in the game, and I got slaughtered in about 2 hits. I took that as an excuse to stop playing (to my relief, I was about to punch myself if I was to go farther), deleted it of the sd card, and never looked back.

Other difficult games were Super Star Soldier, F-Zero X (both of them are hard but fun), and Kirby 64 (difficult because I couldn't stand playing it).

That's why you're still a kid.

Super Mario RPG is an RPG!!!
You have to grind a bit at times.
If you don't have the patience, well, it's not the games fault.
You rush through the intro sequence and want to beat a boss with Mario on level 1 or 2?
Is that even an excuse? To me it's lazyness.

"I can't beat the first boss - the game is crap."
If you can't beat the first boss you know who is crap.

^ The problem is Super Mario RPG grinds too much! I did as much grinding as I do in most other RPGs (Golden Sun, Pokemon, Earthbound, heck even Final Fantasy). Grinding's not a problem in most good RPGs, you know, a variety of monsters to fight, relatively challenging but not too hard to keep you on your toes, and they give you a nice big batch of experience when you're done. Well, this game does none of that good. All the enemies are like the monsters from old-school rpgs that are so weak and worth so little experience fighting them that it's a complete waaste of time to fight them, except they're the only enemies in that part! The problem is that the bosses are way too powerful for the enemies they toss at you, which leads to a very boring waste of time.
