I checked Amazon UK today (as that's where I live) and I noticed that the Monster Hunter Tri UK release date is listed as April 2nd. Further investigation revealed that the game by itself (with no bundled hardware) has a release date of the 30th of April. It's this bundle that has caused confusion for me, the date clearly states the 2nd of April:
Yet another confusing part of this bundle, the price is listed as £30.99p. That's for the game, the Classic Controller Pro AND Wii Speak. Now when compared to the price other retailers are planning to sell this bundle at, it seems almost impossibly cheap. On Play.com, just the game and the Classic Controller (ie no Wii Speak) is £49.99, almost £20 more for an inferior bundle. Game sells the same Wii-Speak-less bundle for £59.99, almost double the Amazon price for, once again, a less equipped game bundle. I can only assume they've made a mistake with the release date, and possibly even the price, but I wanted to post this here and get your opinions.
"I had to take the young general, I couldn't turn out the holy man, I couldn't stop the wind from blowing and the air from being as clear as crystal; and I couldn't hide the mountain."
Did you notice that they're selling their Wii-Speak-less bundle at the exact same price—£30.99—as the limited edition bundle? And that the game on its own is being sold at £29.73, i.e. roughly the same price as the two other packages?
I'll be honest, I'm a little confused. The limited edition bundle at Amazon is accompanied by a photo that features a monster-head figurine—but the figurine isn't listed anywhere on the page. And if I'm understanding things correctly, there's a different, second, monster-head reward for pre-orders, which is nowhere mentioned at Amazon, but is promised in a Nintendo press release, but without any explanation of how customers will receive it??
Like I said, I'm sorta confused. Didn't stop me from grabbing that Amazon pre-order, though.

Here in the US, you could buy Blue Ocean with WiiSpeak at Bestbuy for $29.99, and the game alone for ... yep, $29.99.

Is the price for that pre-order, taking into account their pre-order guarantee, binding do you reckon? I've got some screen shots saved in a folder in case I need to prove this was the advertised price.

Your confirmation email from Amazon includes that price, too, remember.
Although, looking through the email, I notice that the legal small print informs us that it's "only an acknowledgement of receipt of your order and your contract to purchase these items is not complete until we send you an e-mail notifying you that the items have been dispatched to you".
On the other hand, the pre-order price guarantee does seem pretty straight-forward.
Only time will tell. Time heals all wounds. Time, Mr Freeman.

I pre-ordered it because they say you pay the lowest price and if it ends up not working out well I can always cancel it. Great deal though, even if it is a mistake.

It clearly says "Monster Hunter Tri with Classic Controller Pro and Speak Limited Bundle (Wii)" so that price, unbelievable though it is, must be true. Hell, I've already got Wii Speak and a regular Classic Controller but I think even I'll put my money down for this and sell the accessories on to a friend.
As for the release date, everything I've seen come out of Nintendo says April 23rd, so I'm not sure where they have April 2nd from.

You might want to print them out sooner rather than later, with dates on them, as screenshots could be seen as altered.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

If Amazon can honour the deal, I'm sold. I dare say that they could probably weasel out of it if a ridiculous number of people pre-order and there aren't enough copies to go around. Besides, who knows? Maybe someone at Nintendo goofed and they were offered it at a knock down wholesale price that they're just passing on to the consumer.
Pstt! this is how they're going to make it a hit in the west.

The page for the LE bundle now says Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available.
Also, the accompanying image has been changed, and now shows the box that the bundle will come in: a fake-wooden treasure-chest affair. If you squint, you can still see small pictures of all the bundled items (including the figurine) on the front of the chest.
Yer, my order's still there, it looks like the people who ordered may still get it because they have to honour the price guarantee or they could cancel them eventually.

I think I'm going to phone them up today and explain what's happened, I'm also going to prepare an email with my screenshots to send them. I think it's legally dubious to increase the price for a pre-order once it's been made, I suspect that's why it currently says "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available". Somethings amiss here..
