Ok an update. I contacted Amazon via their 'Call Me Service'. It's some bizarre thing where you enter your number, then they IMMEDIATELY call you back (I mean, as SOON as you press the button), it's pretty efficient actually. Anyway, the assistant I spoke to took my order number, and she could see immediately that the item had changed from when I originally placed the order. She spoke to someone at the warehouse to check if they could 'keep their promise' and they said everything was still OK for my order, but they had changed the picture and taken the price away because the item was now "out of stock", so it will only be available at this time to people who have already pre-ordered it.
Saying it's 'out of stock' is very unlikely to be true, I mean what kind of shop at Amazon's level stock an item that little? I suspect somebody at Amazon has noticed the massively low price, which most likely was a mistake, and taken it off the website to prevent any more people getting the deal. She completely assured me my order was safe however (can I completely believe this? is this too good to be true?) and finally, and here's the most unbelievable bit, she said it would dispatch to me on the 1st of April: "That's the date we promised to send it to you, and it's a promise we will keep". I doubt this will happen, but imagine if it did?
"I had to take the young general, I couldn't turn out the holy man, I couldn't stop the wind from blowing and the air from being as clear as crystal; and I couldn't hide the mountain."
Awesomesauce, I thought they'd do it to prevent any future orders but would have to honour the ones already done. Awesome if true, can't see the shipping date being true though.

No, nor can I, but I got her 'promise' and her name, so if it ain't at my house 3 weeks early, I'm gonna make some angry phone-calls, haha. This has to be the most confusing pre-order/release I can remember.

Thanks for reporting back, MmBuddha—that's encouraging news.
In fairness to Amazon, what the assistant said to you might well have been the case, more or less. If the Limited Edition package truly is limited—and I assume it is—Amazon could only rely on receiving a certain amount of product from Capcom. But when word got round on that £30.99 price tag, pre-orders shot through the roof—the LE bundle had broken into the regular Top 10, not just the pre-order chart, by the time the offer had been pulled from the site. Pre-order sales had surpassed "regular" Pokeman Gold & Silver, and were right behind the "special" Pokemon Gold packs! If Amazon hadn't stopped taking Monster Hunter LE pre-orders when they did, I genuinely don't think they'd have been able to fulfill all the orders coming in.
In that case I hope Amazon didn't make some kind of terrible price mistake because that's going to cost them enormously.
"I had to take the young general, I couldn't turn out the holy man, I couldn't stop the wind from blowing and the air from being as clear as crystal; and I couldn't hide the mountain."
I've noticed that Amazon do, sometimes, sell new games at crazy prices. On the PSP, Final Fantasy Dissidia, Jak & Daxter: The Last Frontier and LittleBigPlanet were all available for around 12 quid each when they were first released. So perhaps it's some kind of loss-leader strategy? Offer a game at a ridiculously low price, and forums start buzzing, people visit your website, and maybe they make another purchase or two while they're picking up the cheap game. (I know that when I pre-ordered MH3 last night, I also went ahead and bought another game that I'd had my eye on for a while.)
But looking at the price of the Limited Edition Tri bundle on other sites (£70 at game.co.uk for example), I suspect that someone at Amazon messed up. My guess is that they'll honour any pre-orders already taken for the sake of customer goodwill, and make up the loss by replacing all the food in the company canteen with that Amazon cardboard packaging, soaked in buttermilk, for a couple of days.

It's a definite mess-up if all 3 versions cost practically the same. Hell, Wii Speak and the CCPro almost cost the 31 Pounds...
Now it's just a numbers game. How much is Amazon gonna lose on this and how many very satisfied (or dissatisfied) customers are at stake. I hope for us, that Amazon will ship at this price. I've encountered several ways of how Amazon handles stuff like this:
So I received an email from Amazon this morning about the Monster Hunter Tri LE order.
"Unfortunately..."
Oh-oh.
"...the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date."
Oh! Well, that's alright. I was assuming that the April 2nd date was an error, to be honest. I'm just glad they didn't cancel the order.
So what's the new, corrected, estimated delivery date, based on the new release date from the supplier?
Amazing scenes! I haven't had any email update from Amazon on my order yet (used the same link as you guys) so it'll be interesting to see how this one turns out. I think we all know they're going to stick to the release date of April 23rd so the pricing issue is the big one for me. I've got my fingers crossed for everyone!

Probably, but this was spreading all over the net yesterday (I saw people talking about it at Eurogamer), so it's a possibility. There was also theorisation that this isn't a "proper" bundle, but chucking some Wii Speaks they had lying about with a copy of the CC+game bundle. Anyway, I hope people who did pre-order report back on what they actually receive just out of curiosity.
I'm just getting the game on it's own using some GAME trade-in credit I've got laying about. With any luck Monster Rancher DS is also coming in April, so it will be a "monstrous" month for me!
I haven't checked my emails yet, but on the 'order details' for the bundle it now has a revised arrival date of the '5th-9th of April' as well. I'm fairly certain it's completely illegal to send out a game before a certain date set by the supplier, so who knows what the hell is going on here, or what will actually happen.
"I had to take the young general, I couldn't turn out the holy man, I couldn't stop the wind from blowing and the air from being as clear as crystal; and I couldn't hide the mountain."
So I just got an order cancellation with the following explanation: "It has been brought to our attention that another retailer has exclusive rights to this ASIN. Therefore, we are unable to provide this item on the Amazon.co.uk website. For this reason, this item has been cancelled from your order; you have not been charged for it. "
Anyone else got the same? Or are your orders still intact?

Same here. Ah well, it always sounded way too good to be true. The bundled with just the Classic Controller Pro also seems to have been taken off for the moment.
I phoned them up and kicked up a fuss, I had to speak to the phone-advisors manager, but eventually they gave me £10 compensation, especially since I'd had a verbal assurance from a phone-advisor a couple of days before saying my order was definitely secure. I haven't seen any sign of this 'compensation' yet though, does anyone know how gift vouchers work on Amazon?

Did you notice that they're selling their Wii-Speak-less bundle at the exact same price—£30.99—as the limited edition bundle? And that the game on its own is being sold at £29.73, i.e. roughly the same price as the two other packages?
Here in the US, you could buy Blue Ocean with WiiSpeak at Bestbuy for $29.99, and the game alone for ... yep, $29.99.
That reminds me to my local Saturn. They sell The Sims 3 standard edition for €39.99 and the limited edition for €29.99. The limited edition was €69.99 when it came out almost a year ago, while the normal edition was €49.99. I guess they do so because the limited edition sold so badly. (€10 for a 2GB USB-stick was just not worth it IMO)

Looks like I won't be monster-huntin' in April after all... Buying the disc, Classic Controller Pro and Wii Speak as individual items would make it all just a little too pricey for me, and any previews I've seen of the game seem to suggest that the alternative—playing with remote & nunchuck and using the onscreen keyboard to chat—make for a somewhat awkward experience.
Might try and pick up a cheap copy of one of the PSP versions, see if I enjoy the game enough to splash out on Tri?
Unrelated but Monster Hunter Tri is already being advertised on British TV, it seems to be sponsoring Legend of the Seeker on Sci-Fi and I think that says a lot about the difference between Nintendo and 3rd party advertisement because Red Steel 2 is also being advertised.
Red Steel 2 is a day from release and I've seen the ad twice. Monster Hunter Tri is a month from release and I've seen the ad six times already.

I got that same email, which is a disappointment. Looks like I'll have to forego this bundle in stores: truth be told, I already have the Wii Speak and a black classic controller-a-like (Snakebyte Retro Controller, I believe; nice pad, anyway) so I'm not dropping the £70 at my local store for this one.
