I missed my chance to get it for $20 new last year. (Best Buy weekend deal.) Very upset that I missed it.

@OB I messed that one also. They went out of STock. I was able to get my copy thanks to my mom's awesome bargain hunting. She got me it for my birthday new.
I'm familiar with stores. Never seen the game for less than MSRP, certainly not that much less. Perhaps The Fox could offer more particulars.
That I can think of?
F.Y.E-$18.99 or so used K-mart-$24.99 New Senders Book and Movie House (small local chain)-around $20 used Best Buy-$29.99 new
Of course demand in a particular area is going to drive the price up or down, so take what you will from that.
Interesting. It's been a long time since I've seen Metroid Prime Trilogy available new or used for the prices you're listing. For that matter, it regularly sells at $40+ through online websites like eBay and local GameStops buy the game used for over $30 in value... so many places selling at $25 or less seems grossly undervalued.
Pretty sure that Best Buy and KMart don't make significant price adjustments due to local demand either. Maybe it's different where you live though.

Well, the Best Buy in my area is run pretty poorly(despite high traffic) with stock overflowing the shelves and little done to organize. Odds are they mark products down in a desperate measure to regain control.

I loved those water ripple effects and ice beam effects on original Prime, so cutting them off is complete BS if you ask me. Also, the gamecube versions of Prime 1& 2 had a LOT better and stable controls. I always get tired after playing these with wiimote after a short while, a problem which never occured in GC games. Also GC controls allows me to run through stages at much higher speeds since my crosshair isn't waving around constantly. So if you ask me, the original games are more valuable than these Trilogy editions.
Yay for single-analog control? The GC versions are barely playable imo
Yeah he's insane. The GC titles I don't entirely call 'barely playable' accurate, but pretty near it. Sure for awhile when the pressure is off most that first game it's fine, but once you get into those areas with constant Space Pirates, especially the Omega Pirate boss, it's just over. The jerks move around like quake3 custom bots strafing, boosting, jumping, and unloading a can of whoop ass on you with their blasters. Yet, YOU can not do this, well, not without standing there like a tool for a few seconds getting riddled with buckshot as you diddle with the R button and Z if I recall right so that you can slow aim on them, lock on, and then and only then you you can equally strafe and fire as they had been doing all along. That in itself is super horrible design magnified by the ignorance of wasting a good c-stick on visors which would have been fine off the d-pad or better yet, in the menu when selecting a cannon like in previous Metroid titles. I never finished MP1 due to the bad controls and didn't buy MP2 because they refused to fix them, Prime 3 though is very playable and enjoyable as it finally works.

I missed that, too, by a day...
@J.K.: You exaggerate quite a bit about the GameCube controls. While the Wii controls are leagues better, the "broken" controls that you describe for the GC versions are non-existent. The only points that you should have the slightest trouble should be boss battles, and only because of their frantic nature. And, no, using a menu for beam selection would've been terrible, especially since these beams didn't stack like in the pre-GC titles...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
To answer your original question, yes I think MPT will be a valuable collector's item in a few years. Do you want to play it or collect it? I would keep it sealed if you are just wanting to sell it down the road. I think even a used copy will be pretty valuable in the future though, just keep it in good shape.

Nice. We have a Staples that does something similar - but I've never seen other stores follow the same practice. Not good for business but great for sharp consumers.
This Is Huffdaddy_102 And I Need Friend credits for the game so if you can email me your console codes At HuffJohnni... my console codes 6651-8554-4349-5817
I'm not exaggerating at all. I found the title ultimately later in the game to become darn near prohibitively unplayable, but perhaps having done '3D' FPS type games on dual stick systems and the old mouse/keyboard on the PC and Dreamcast it just wouldn't click. Regardless I know of over the years a LOT of people who couldn't stomach that terrible design setup, and I never said put the beam selection to pause, I said put the visor selection there as yes beam would be dumb. I said like previous (ie: Super Metroid 3) or GBA titles, to shove the visor flip into the pause menu like the old games cannon selection.
At the least Nintendo should have had the courtesy to let people setup the controls to a point how they wanted to. Nearly any game of that style of FPS type genre allow customization. Then again we're learning that Nintendo when they want to shove something on you, you deal with it or go away because they've screwed up 2 Zelda titles so far with touch only sketchy controls.
It's odd that the game is out-of-print in the U.S. and Australia, and not here in Europe. Good games whatever age should be always available for those who desire, in my opinion.
Now i remembered what bugs me the most about the wii controls. When you turn, you always have to point your crosshair to either right or left (resulting losing your view), and straighten it back to center after that. In GC's Primes the crosshair were always dead center if you werent aiming with shoulder button, which made playing the game much easier and more relaxed. It's also annoying that everytime you put the controller on the floor or anyplace out of your hand and aiming at the center of the screen, Samus goes apeshit.

It's presumably because they got the fancy custom packaging where we got it in a bog standard case.
