I stopped playing them...getting kinda repetitive and what-not, but they're most likely going to continue with them. Before we know it they'll be up to Mario Party 18, lol.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Mario Party just needs to die in my opinion. The series is like one of Nintendo's franchises that refuses to retire once and for all. The N64 games I did like and I could at least get in to 4, but the rest just became to gimmicky and boring, so to Mario Party 9 I say HELL NO!!!
For the time being, Mario Party has been replaced by Mario & Sonic and their Olympic endeavors.
BARF! I'd rather play the worse Mario Party there is than THAT piece of crap! Besides which, SEGA is developing the Mario & Sonic series while Hudson does Mario Party, so there's no real reason they COULDN'T do both.
I think they don't want to bother making another because in the new market the Wii and DS have, the current version is still selling plenty well! They only kept making more and more on Gamecube because the sales of each version dropped off a lot faster.
Mario party has been a joke since 6 on the Cube IMO, I enjoyed earlier ones.
They should get the warioware team to make the next Mario party, and have some longer more gaming inspired minigames between rounds like say one minigame could be the entire first level of mario bros, a race through it. and some minigames could just be 5-10 minigames ripped from warioware, maybe through in a couple random trivia questions for good measure, a smash bros style fight or two.
Also they could do with adding a few different modes than the boards, maybe make some Nintendo-themed classic board game based games: Monopoly, Game of Life, Frustration/sorry/whatever, poker, pairs, etc
1. I want Donky Kong to become a playable character again! 2. MP 2 was the best and if they could do something along that lines again, I'd be happy. 3. Shorten the game a bit by adding more mini-games vs moving around the board. 4. Loved the hotel idea in MP 8 and would love to see that expanded. 5. I want Donkey Kong to become a playable character again!

Personally I'd like to see a variety of boards - some small and some epic and huge ones!!!
Perhaps some mini games based on previous mario titles e.g a race through one of the mario bros 3 levels, coin collecting in the grounds of the mario64 castle etc
more in depth cusomisation to suit different peoples tastes.
Lastly online play I don't think would work for this type of game, it's typically 20-60 mins for a game - are people going to stay connected?? Perhaps online would work for some well designed mini games, maybe best of 5 or something like that!!
Rather than making a mario party 9 useless with the wiimote, rather make a collection of 100 best minigames mario party all adapted to the wiimote and sample the best 7 boards with the rules of the first mario party who are just simple and excellent with All the characters in the series (Including Donkey Kong and Bowser JR)
I think Nintendo will think online gameplay is a bad idea for a completely different reason...the same reason they didn't want online in NSMBW. Which sort of makes sense, though I personally think I'd rather have online for Mario Party than for NSMBW. Any way about it, they seem to be in no rush to make another one, so I guess it's a moot point.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

MP8 was so boring. The Minigames weren't any fun mostly, and it took forever before you even got to them if you were playing on a board. Smaller boards, more minigame spaces, better minigames.
Honestly, if there's one genre you have to nail on the Wii, it's minigame collections. Otherwise, why even bother at this point.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
