Topic: Major 3rd parties hate Nintendo platforms....

Of course that has been apparent form day one on Wii. But look now, at the DS - look how few big name companies get behind massive games on DS - where? Heck, even Street Fighter goes to i-phone.....really? I realize you cannot do a direct port, but i-phone? Touch screen fighting stick? Are you kidding me?

And look at motion plus - lots of support there. At launch Wii got a couple of no brainer sequels to existing games with motion plus support. Wow. And look how successful Wii Resort is - not that major 3rd parties care. They did not even try. Won't it be funny is 3rd parties get behind Natal and Arc with major games? Lol.

Nintendo is hated. This 'casual' stuff is nonsense. 'Casual' could just as well mean 'stupid' as far as major 3rd parties are concerned. They have put next to no effort into Wii or DS, not really. Very little truly ambitious or grand scale. And they have the gall to play the 'failure' card?

Not to say third party support is 'bad' - there are a lot of medium sized games that are niched fillers and quite good... But the continued success of WIi and DS rests on Nintendo. They have next to no help with the blockbuster titles that drive systems.

I hope they keep the system moving games coming - very interested to see the Nintendo media summit.

Is it not hypocritical that IGN is 'hyped' when they think Nintendo is lazy? Lol. But media hype only means one thing for Nintendo - Zelda footage. Other than Mario Galaxy, and Super Smash, Zelda is the only Media Sweetheart Nintendo has. Nintendo is becoming an island unto them selves - they cannot do anything about it, except be exceptional and exclusive.

This has been covered here several times before, and it usually doesn't end well.

Just Dance on Wii, made by Ubisoft, has been top of all format charts for weeks here in Europe. They don't do that badly.

They have NOT tried.

Look at EA on Wii - making Madden unplayable and appealing to no one - washing out the identity of the franchise. Taking a major franchise like Dead Space and stripping it down to on rails form. Copy cat EA Fit game. List the EA watered down ports.

Their high water mark creatively is Boom Blox, and that is above average at best.

Activision - Call of Duty : Wii version - see you in 2 years.

Capcom : Monster Hunter is a big exclusive (at least in Japan), not launched in U.S. yet. I doubt this game will do great in the states, at least it is coming.

Take 2 : Party games. PS2 ports.

SEGA - Sonic 4 goes online instead of retail - marginalizing it. I guess after NSMBWii flopped, they got cold feet and scrapped the Blue Case at Retail. Several crappy 3-d Sonic games, many multiplatform anyway. Published an overhyped, meidocre shooter.

Ubisoft - Red Steel was rushed junk. A few junk ports. No commitment.

Name me the no brainer hit, full blown - major exclusive or at least same time ports Wii has gotten.

I generally do agree with you, but there are a few major publishers that still cares about the system. Capcom being one of them.

Capcom may care, but they are not 'maining' it by any means.

And Monster Hunter was a big hit in Japan.....

Capcom cares about the system? Resident Evil 4, Okami...those were ports! I haven't seen much original content from Capcom aside from Zack and Wiki and Tatsunoko VS. Capcom, which wouldn't have been released if it hadn't been for strong demand from fans.

If you think New Super Mario Bros. Wii is hard, try Super Mario Bros. 3.

So what about Monster Hunter Tri?

And the Resident Evil Chronicles series and Mega Man 9?

Threads like this are so stupid. A blind monkey can pick four or five random 'bad' or 'lazy' games and try and claim they prove the console is deficient. They'd be wrong, but they can try.

EG: "Ninjabread Man, Carnival Games Golf, inferior Wii Fit clones and Gameloft clearly show that the Wii is a bad console!!!11!"

That's dumb.

A blind monkey can also claim that four or five good games for a console are actually bad (because the blind monkey's opinion clearly overrides popular/ press opinion), and use them as examples for a deficient console. Again, they'd be wrong, but they can try.

EG "Boom Blox, Dead Space: Extraction, Final Fantasy Chocobo Tales and No More Heroes are all average games, at best, and clear proof that NO ONE SUPPORTS THE WII WAAAHHH!!!11one!!"

The original poster uses a combination of both flawed arguments. As a result, it's a dumb post. The Wii has plenty of good games from third party publishers. In my library alone I have games from Square Enix, Ubisoft, EA, Disney Interactive Studios and Marvelous/ Red Star Games that I play plenty often and would, as a games critic, give good scores to.

I really wish people would actually think about the bigger picture, and stop trying to use criminally-flawed arguments.

Okay, I guess Capcom does support the Wii more than I imagined. I forgot about the Resident Evil Chronicles, Megaman 9 (and 10), and the upcoming Monster Hunter Tri.

Bawwwww, I'm here to cry about nothing, since a cohesive point I cannot make >.<

Also the DS has stellar third-party support, it has a vast catalogue of fantastic games, and it expands steadily.

Marvelous Entertainment / Rising Star Games

  • Harvest Moon / Rune Factory series
  • No More Heroes series
  • Fragile Dreams
  • Little King's Story
    that's all great stuff...

Square Enix
Capcom
Hudson
Sega
Koei
Tecmo

I think they're all doing a great job on the Wii with exceptional and fun software, often on par with.. or sometimes better than Nintendo's own stuff.

Weird that these are all Japanese companies, but I just like that stuff more.

For Activision, Electronic Arts or Ubisoft I couldn't care less, even though they too have a few good games.

I think the poster of this topic doesn't know his Wii too well.
