Topic: The Last Story Discussion

I and many others are crazy hyped for this despite having seen no in-game screenshots whatsoever. Still, the few tidbits we do know are certainly enticing. Let's just hope it delivers!

What is known about the Battle System

It looks like it will be a bit FF13-centric.

• Apparently you'll only directly control one character during the battle.
• The battles are "merged real time battles with command selection -- something that has an action feel but will also make you think."
• When you're going through menus, the battle freezes (good news for me!).
• When you use magic, elemental "circles" are left on the battle-field. Nothing's known about what these circles do as of now.
• Enemies will have a visible line of sight, indicating which of your party members they're focusing on.
• The hero will have the ability to "gather" all of the enemies' lines of sight directly on him.

What we know about the story

Very little. Ship voyaging is a main aspect of the game, and there will be many islands to explore as well as some intricate city layouts. Some story elements include:

• A prison break by a foolish archaeologist
• A close friend who's turned to evil
• The mysteries surrounding a father who went missing on a boat
• The fear of speaking your true feelings.

I'm guessing we'll get a trailer for the game during E3 (heck, maybe even during Nintendo's presentation) since everything is under wraps for some reason. Either way, it sounds as if the game will be awesome! I can't wait!

Yep, I'd be crazy surprised if they didn't show it at E3, since it's already in the final stages of development. With luck we should see it released by this Christmas!

Hope we see some gameplay at E3. This sounds pretty awesome.

I can't wait for this game! Of course, i'm naturally excited about any RPG, especially one of the Wii (only system I own besides DS) so it's great to hear something promising is coming to the big screen!

Well, everything that made Final Fantasy great is at work here...But I will believe it when I see it...We never seen Archaic Sealed Heat, well, I did, I have it as an import...Many other titles from Mistwalker never made it out of Japan. Squeenix has really become mediocre lately. I have Final Fantasy 13 for PS3 and although it looks amazing, the plot is lacking, very lacking...As with more gorgeous looking games...

Don't care about the gameplay or story or graphics or whatever; I know it'll be awesome. What I want is a release date.

Oversea travelling?
Count me in, I'm a sucker for things like that.
On another note, those pictures look fantastic! Hopefully it'll be a lot like Final Fantasy, but different enough to have some original gameplay.
