The Wii's momentum may slow, but the Wii won't die, at least until the next (non-portable) console comes out imo.
Yeah I never heard of a console system being stopped because of a handheld. Generally Handhelds replace handhelds and home consoled replace home consoles. Thus you will probably see the DS slowly being phased out sooner than the Wii with the release of the 3DS, kinda like the Gameboy was phased out slowly with the DS showing up.
As someone stated the reason for the slow down on the Wii is probably cause Nintendo is concentrating all its efforts on the 3DS and not only Nintendo but other companies as well.

If Nintendo said the Wii is Dead, then it's Dead. But for now, it still alive
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
The Wii isn't nearly dead yet. Reggie said once it sells another 50% of the current install base (I forgot the number... currently 30 something, waiting for 45 something), they'll talk about a replacement. Generations are going longer this year, because the tech hasn't yet advanced enough for it be both a significant upgrade, and cheap. Nothing wrong with this at all, I want an investment in the console to last a looooong time so I can spend money on games instead of hardware.

Correction, they'll reveal it. They're already making the next console regardless of the Wii's sales. The Wii started development around the time the Gamecube was released

Exactly. I'm sure the moment the Wii was out, if not sooner, they were looking at their next console. They need to stay on top of the technology and trends.
I always assummed its over 2012 (console not world lol). there's a handful of good games this year.

When has Nintendo (or ANY company for that matter) ever killed a console because of a handheld??? REALLY?!
Your Wii is as alive as it's ever been, so just because it's been a few years since launch we don't all need to be freaking out. We don't even know what games are coming out this year. Just like last year we didn't even know what games were coming out. How often do we really know EVERY game that will be released in a coming year when it's only January??? Has that ever happened?

I wonder if any of the 3DS games will come to wii also ?
There some great arcade style games all coming out on the 3DS, think the wii needs some too.
Some games I would go far as to say are better suited to the wii like Pilot wings.
I'm looking forward to Conduit 2 and Grinder this year and be nice to see that WM+ JAPAN only game "Zangeki no Reginleiv" released worldwide.
Haven't been keep an eye on up n coming wii titles so I'm sure there is plenty of good stuff, hopefully some WM+ based title showing some unique gameplay (WM+ title are very few).
@vonseux - For all of the awesome games the Wii got last year, I kinda grateful for a software lull, it gives us (as a collective whole) to catch up on games we could've missed out on.
Guys, don't forget that this time last year none of the following had been revealed: Donkey Kong Country Returns Kirby's Epic Yarn Epic Mickey Goldeneye Sonic Colors So there's still lots of stuff that could come in the second half of the year.....

One big difference I think is that 360 and PS3 games are generally announced a year or a year and a half before they arrive. Nintendo, thankfully, does not do that. At least not intentionally. So while everyone knows pretty much every game coming for the HD twins, people see a tiny list for the Wii and think Nintendo has given up on it.
