Topic: Is it just me or...?

Do the majority of Wii games look awful in their screenshots, but look amazing when you actually play them? This seems to happen particularly to 3D games. On the other hand, Muramasa looks gorgeous in the screenshots.

I think most Wii games look jaggy and unrefined in 480p.

Yeah, that's what I meant. They look jaggy in screenshots. But they look great on the TV. It just feels odd...

I don't think they look any better on the TV to be honest. Maybe I play too much Xbox 360 and PS3.

An old "thick" TV is absolutely more forgivin to the picture. Can´t play Wii on my LCD TV, it delays the picture too much. Next time I will try gaming on it before I carry it home

You're right - for the most part Wii games do look jagged in both screen shots and on TV. I've just been checking out some 720p images of Resi 4 and my god does that game look beautiful without all the aliasing.

Still, I guess there's a charm to all the shimmering and blockiness that 360 and PS3 users just don't get. Neither do I.

Same here. I also can't tell hops from malts, a pinot noir from a merlot. I may just be unrefined.

I play my wii on a fairly large standard def tv. Games like Galaxy look great. We also have a 60 inch widescreen hdtv. I won't play my wii games on there. The graphics are a little bit jaggedy (but not annoyingly so), but the big thing is the sensor bar is not really sensitive enough and the pointer seems to "jump" instead of move smoothly. It's also problematic when pointing to something on the sides of the TV (I changed the settings to widescreen and everything, the TV is just too big). I see Xbox and 360 games and there are times I wish Wii was in HD. I think since Nintendo games are so much more colorful (mostly I've seen brown/grey first person shooters on PS360) they would look amazing!

Edit: I will occasionally hook it up to the TV to play VC games. 8 bit Mario on a 60 inch widescreen...pretty awesome.

Playin wii games on a 1080i .....is just wrong. Especially when 1 pixel goes dead on you......DAMN YOU PIXEL I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE!
Now PS3 games on the other hand mmmmm.

well, i dont have the glory of owning multiple consoles (house rule, only 1 console permitted per console generation) soo i guess i just play with what i have and thats that i guess.

I use my Wii with a SD widescreen usually and its a pretty picture, no complaints. I also have a 42 inch HD screen which I sometimes use for the Wii in 480p with a component cable. I know a lot of people complain results in jaggies but I've always found it to be fairly stunning.
