@ ND799 Even if it were a tech demo (quite an extensive and polished tech demo, if so), I don't see why you'd laugh at the price. It's really a $30 game since it comes with M+, which is $20 on its own. If 14 sports, each with multiple modes, and motion controls never before seen on another console isn't enough to justify $30, I don't know what is.
@ Sir Pix-e-lot I really don't see the frame rate problem. The average gamer does not have any knowledge of frame rates. When I played those games, they played just fine. If it's not a perfect frame rate but it's still fun, I'll take it. I don't remember anyone ever complaining about Goldeneye, Star Fox, or Mario Kart's frame rates. I mentioned South Park just because it did four-player well. It was just another first-person shooter, nothing amazing but decent.
I disagree Adam - I lke Splitscreen, and having the option for 4 players is fine - but in practice - it can be a confusing mess.
I REALLY doubt it was tech limitations or laziness that took out 4 player dogfighting - try 4 tiny screens and a mess going on in all 4 corners....Star Fox 64 is not even FUN in ANY multiplayer, and I always had more fun in 2 player Goldeneye, though that game was not as bad in 4 player, and it is good it had it.
Miyamoto has gone on record saying that single screen multiplayer is the best and most fun - that is to say - Mario Arcade, Smash Brothers, New Super Mario. I agree.
Even Mario Kart Wii in 4 player is kind of a mess.....
But this thread has hit another IMPORTANT Nintendo success touchstone - the game design of the NES days combined with the fun 4 player local multiplayer of N64!
TO whom it may concern :
Calling Wii Sports or Resot a tech demo is just plain false...they are highly polished FINISHED vidoegames of skill and control, with goals and high scores kept. I cannot stand for that kind of ignorarnce - it grates on me - it grates on me - it grates on me - like no other kind of gaming ignorance!
IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?
Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant. Right, Down, A, Down, Right, Up
gametrailers.com has a pretty good video review of it up. it looks great to me.
Yeah, I actually am starting to enjoy GT.com's reviews a lot more than other sites (aside for NL, of course). After seeing their review I may take the $70 plunge (need to buy a 2nd WM+ so I can have sword fights with my girlfriend.) For some reason I am extremely excited for the flying minigame; I used to love Pilotwings, and I just like the idea of exploring the island.
Eugene, I definitely agree that single-screen play is the best, though it's unfortunately not always possible. I thought Mario Kart was fine. I played 3-players fairly often.
Oh, and Star Fox's multi-player is pretty bad, but it is functional is all I meant. I loved it back in the day, but I played it recently and was blown away by how boring it is. I hope they do single-screen co-op in the next one instead of dog fighting. That would be much more fun.
Yeah, I hear you. I guess my only point is time and tech would not be the only considerations when trying to provide the most fun mulitplayer of any given game.
I used to love Pilotwings, and I just like the idea of exploring the island. sub/ sen/
I hear you. I was jogging around Wii Fit Island just the other day. I am obsessed with Wuhu Island. Obsessed. I need to see the new changes, I need to see the new adventure game......

Look guys, you've got to understand IGN isn't the greatest at everything... especially when it comes to stinking reviews; since IGN usually SUCKS giving any decent review scores anymore!
I mean there are a million reasons why I've always loathed IGN with a bloody passion; but I just miss it when good games got top 9 scores back then... like Zelda TP & Mario Galaxy for example!
But I think this Wii Sports Review isn't too terribly bad!
The whole reason why I'm posting my personal opinion without any other crazed NintendoLife member biting my head off; is because I'm only going to say this once, so listen carefully!
IGN praised only a few games on Wii Sports Resort that did the best with the Motion Plus; being sword play, archery, table tennis, air plane, & well duh bowling!
But you can't BLAME IGN for their hatered for the other games; being mostly the water ones like canoes, wakeboarding, or the cycling for that matter! When they say it's to repetitive... it means they don't find it fun!
And I think that's the whole point about my post here people; some people don't appreciate entire games as FUN anymore; that's the problem with today's society... or IGN's opinions for that matter as a big difference!
Reason why I say is that some review sites, like IGN as a major example; don't know a good game if it fell on their stinking heads!
End of discussion; I'm done venting off my anger... so don't bite my head off remember!
EDIT: bolded and took out all caps... hope it's slightly better to read now @Adam!
I usually check out metacritic to get an average score on games, so generally speaking, if it's red (<50) then I won't touch it. but so far it's at about 80, which is a great metascore IMO.
I wasn't criticizing the smilies, just sharing my impression that I thought was a funny visual.
And no, I don't know all you said was right because I didn't read it. While I have no problem with the smilies, the constant use of all caps is really grating on the eyes. You should just bold words using asterisks (*) or italicize with underscores (_) around the words, and even then just stress a word or phrase, not entire sentences. It's the equivalent of shouting in someone's face through text. I know you mean nothing by it, but it's hard to read.
Motion Plus costs $20? That's strange. So you basically have to pay $80 if you want the full Wii Controller.
Anyways, I still wouldn't pay fifty dollars for Wii Sports Resort. Tiger Woods comes with Wii Motion Plus and only costs $50. I'm not sure but I think Grand Slam Tennis also comes with Wii Motion Plus. Those two games are both worth $50 alone yet they still come with WM+. If we're talking peripherals packaged with a game, then Mario Kart Wii with the Wheel is fifty dollars total. Wii Sports Resort definitely is not worth $50, so it shouldn't be priced as fifty
Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction. - Albert Einstein on the Wii
Wii Sports has a lot more sports than those games. It's silly to say it's not worth the price tag based on... well, no first-hand experience (unless you've imported it?). I can understand if you are a die hard tennis or golf fan that you'd want one of EA's games instead, but for someone like me who has a passing interest in many different sports but not really a passion for tennis or golf particularly, Resort fits the bill perfectly.
And no, Tiger Woods is not $50 with Motion+, at least not according to Gamestop or Amazon. It's $60 if bundled on Amazon, and Gamestop doesn't even have the bundle, just the $50 standalone game.
Also, how can you possibly compare Motion+ with the Wheel? One is a piece of plastic, and the other is brand new technology. Not the same.
I am just amazed that people can think Tiger Woods or those Tennis games are so amazing and ambitious and 'deep' and Wii Sports Resort is a '$20 tech demo.'
Lol. Why?

Because Wii Sports Resort does a handful of sports pretty good, but Tiger Woods does one sport really really really really well. So much so that WSR golf and frisbee are a step back. And, Tiger Woods has online leaderboards, competitions, and multiplayer. WSR does not.

#1 - have you played it? Are you sure it does them 'well' at all - have you played TIger Woods 10!!! The 10th Tiger Woods, oh excitement! ( Have you even played Tiger Wods 10????) Is your entire 'lol' at $50 built on presumption and 'casual' propaganda???
#2 - Uh, Wii Sports resort has multiplayer and competitons- it puts the 'ii' in Wii.
#3 - Why are Golf and frisbee a step back???
#4 - Wii Sports has TONS of sports and multiple game modes.....Tiger WOods ONLY has Golf and Frisbee....
Sports Resort is obvioulsy more ambitious, looks better, and has TONS more variety. But I bet you can't wait for Tiger Woods 11 and John Madden Fossball 2021....yeah, EA, you are so hardcore, yeaaaaaarly reiteration licensed sports titles!!!
Give me Nintendo original IP ANYDAY!

I fixed my above post; hope that's good enough for ya!

Uh - The Wi series ARE original Nintendo IPS - Ninteno has had more original hit IP's than anyone lately - it has ben ridonculous - so I dunnow where you been?
Never purchased a sports game in your life - so yeah, your argument is bult on presumption and bias, not fact. Not good, but I expected as much...
Grest you know how 'good' something is form across the room - some here do not trash games or say definitvly they are not worth $50 until we PLAY them - that is credibility...
To pretend that the development of TIger Woods 10 was a more ambitious project then Sports Resort is laughable in any case - but cling to it, if that is what it takes to make the world go round, cause it takes all kinds.
