Transformers 2 is doing well because of the sensational action. I know whatcha mean, but better games generally sell better than poor games. It's a lot different than the movies - you can see a movie for $8. This game is $50, and it's not going to sell that well unless it's good.
I fail to see how first week sales have anything to do with game quality. Unless these guys bought the game after playing an exclusive pre-release version that Nintendo gave to all Japanese citizens unbeknownst to the West, these customers bought the game on blind faith in the holy name that is Wii Sports. A purchase is not always a satisfied purchase, and some bad games do sell well because they look better than they are.
I'm not saying I think IGN AU is right -- I really don't -- just nitpicking.
The first Wii Sports I think is one of the most overrated games of all time.
I'm certainly not going get this anytime soon. BTW, I still have to buy Punch-Out, Klonoa, and Boom Blox Party!!!
EXPERIENCE MORE.... Arcade-quality graphics, awesome sound, "turbo-charged" game play, exciting TurboChip games... It's the incredible Turbo Genesis 64 Entertainment SuperSystem Experience. There's more fun, more challenge, and more excitment ready for you today!
While regular IGN reviews can be a mixed bag, anything coming from IGN AU is bound to be awful. They get paid for this hokey kind of sh**? Video game journalists they certainly aren't. As for this review in particular: it appears to be very rushed, leaving out a lot of info, not even touching on expert stages (or whatever they're called), etc.
Nothing to get riled about really. It's just their sloppy business as usual.
Mario Forever! (free nipple suit and gratuitous butt-shots included) PSN: MisterMumbles82
People need to get real on sword fighting expectations. It is a videogame, and it has to have videogame rules - similar to boxing on the original. Rumble is not the same as having your hands or sword stop! from striking a physical object, it is impossible! You have to react to your mii as much as your mii is responding to your actions - he is getting hit and stunned, you are not! You are the puppet master! Buy a pair of broom handles and skip this game if you want a real life experience.
That review is typical brain dead 'if I can think it, it should be' review. That guy builds castles in the sky on what they 'should have done' and my favorite review crutch - 'missed oppurtunities'. What a boob. Review the game that is there, for what it is and what it is trying to accomplish.
But what is the difference? The good thing is this is the internet and I cannot smell his dirty diapers.
IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?
Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant. Right, Down, A, Down, Right, Up
I can already tell you, we're waiting until early next week to put the review up. Daz has already instructed me to take my time with it and get it right. Plus I want to enjoy this one. Savor it. Ummmmmmm.
K for those who'd rather watch than read, here is the video review for the game (in HD) from IGN. [youtube:ey7rEZRbSt0] I'm actually really tied now (Adam don't lol at me xD) cuz i actually liked what i saw in fencing (im not denying boxing tho) and apparently there IS dogfighting planes However i still think replay value may be lacking.
EDIT MAN wii sports resort could have been great with 2 more sports! BOXING (DUH) and even American football.
