I agree with whoever said it takes like 10 hours to fully enjoy the game. But its not for everyone. Personally, I'm totally down to grind it out for 10 hours to get into a game.
That said, If you like to grind, you'll most likely love the game once it takes off.
You need to play up until you capture the first boss, then you're totally ready to play online. I didn't finish offline until I was well past HR 30 online.
I didn't really start having a lot of fun until I was about 10 hours into the offline mode. What people don't realize is how quickly 10 hours fly by in Monster Hunter, lol. But yeah, It definitely takes awhile to become accustomed to the controls and the game flow. It also takes a good while to find a weapon that you feel comfortable with. I never did get used to that damn hammer, haha.

Haha, actually MH was the first and only game I could play for 3 or more hours straight without stopping. Most other games I can only play for 20-30 minutes before wanting to stop.

really? I just defeated Royal Ludroth and I'm still nervous to go online. You think I'm ready?

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

If you are into the game mechanics you are ready! Only the last offline missions need great experience.. but online > offline, it's lot of fun when you're with good mates!

Unfortunately I can't join you guys online. I just moved out to the sticks and the internet connection is awful. Still waiting for when we can get a mortgage, then we're going to live closer to town in a new house with a shiny internet connection.
That's the only reason I haven't touched the online portion of the game yet. I can't.
