It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
It lies in the eye of the beholder. To me, Nintendo "won" E3 2009 since I am simply not really interested (yet) in Sony's and Microsoft's consoles. The article is pretty pointless IMO.

Just read the article. Zelda wii has a mighty chance of surpassing the Halo: Reach hype. Don`t get me wrong I like halo, but halo 3 kinda ruined it for me. I think Nintendo needs a big "win".
EDIT: Let the IGN bashing begin Here is my opinion on the topic: This is the most absolutely pointless conversation I've ever read. It's mostly about how the "hardcore" fanbase will react to the press conference. Yet the freelancer pointed out that the hardcore base isn't the only ones watching the show anymore. Let me tell you how Nintendo can win the show: by pleasing THEIR fans. The hardcore fanbase already turned their backs on the Wii for ridiculous reasons, so why should they care anymore? The Wii and DS were successful because they pleased more than a handful of gamers. Take note, as Sony and Microsoft are starting to go on the same route.
I don't think that Nintendo could care less whether they "win" E3 or not. So long as they keep selling more games and hardware than anyone else they'll be happy.
I'm having my own E3 competition. The first company to reveal a new Fire Emblem wins. I'll accept Disgaea 4 or something similar if no Fire Emblem is revealed. You can do this, Nintendo.

So pretty much a high-ish profile Strategy RPG? Hmmm, that could go either way... especially considering I don't think Nintendo is anywhere close to announcing a new Fire Emblem.

Why not? They generally release one every two years. Never more than three years apart. Its been two years since Shadow Dragon, and even if they aren't ready to release it this year, they would likely be by early next year if patterns persist, which would make now a good time to reveal. Of course, I have no factual evidence to support the hunch, but fingers remain firmly crossed nonetheless.
Also, I read recently that Intelligent Systems believes Fire Emblem belongs primarily on home consoles, so I'm hoping this means another Wii outing with cutscenes and voice acting. I'd be pretty sad if they announced it for DS again right after I sold my DS, which I bought almost exclusively to play Shadow Dragon.
@Adam: IS seemed to have been concentrating on downloadable stuff since the release of the DSi which is why I don't think a new one would be ready yet. I think it was the FE team who worked on Dragon Quest Wars but I can't imagine that took too long to make. I wouldn't doubt that they're well into the process of making a new entry though.
