I completed Momohine's Story, and I defeated the first boss in Kinsuke's Story. It appears you can unlock a secret ending in each of the characters' stories. How? I'm not telling...

I am off for a little break this (long) weekend, but I hope that this topic is still going on Monday, because I would like to check back in on all of the feedback.
I recently asked Nintendo Life users to help me pick from three 2D Wii games (Muramasa, Klonoa, Wario Land Shake) and the main consensus was to buy Muramasa.
Enjoy the discussions on this @SuperSonic1990 , I am particularly hoping that people discuss the game's length, extras, easter eggs, unlockables and re-playability (i.e. is its structure one flowing adventure/story or does it have a mission select type option to re-play previous levels? Particularly if there are any real standout game design, especially sweet, visual levels).
Obviously I am not encouraging people to spoil any cool parts of the game, though.

I am passionate about retro gaming, from antiquated consoles to the continuation of classics. Obviously I love PSone, and PS2 retro games. I blast my ears to breakneck melodic punk, gruff vocals and nimble alternative guitar hooks.

@JamieO-I won't spoil anything, but it's structure is more of an adventure/story game. The entire game is like a RPG, where you can visit and revisit any part of the game gradually.

Pandemonium of the Demon Blade (The Story of Momohime): Completed all Acts; soon I'll explore the rest of Japan with her.
Ninja Scroll of the Demon Blade (The Story of Kisuke): Completed through Act 6; probably finish it up tonight.

@SuperSonic1990 I hope you don't mind me intruding on a topic which is predominantly about progress through Muramasa. I am grateful that you have already been helpful to me in my previous topic.
If any one of you kind folk would mind answering a few questions, during your discussion, I would appreciate it:
Do you build EXP throughout, as well as achieving new accessories? Can you level up as much as you like?
Does everyone agree with IGN that its graphics are 10/10 flawless, a gaming piece of art, where the "visual presentation is simply breathtaking"-IGN ? Is it really THAT good looking?
Does it have links to Metroid/ Castlevania SotN in the way in which you are gradually able to open areas by gaining new skills?
What is the average completion time of Muramasa? (...this may be impossible to answer).
The inclusion of Japanese voiceovers definitely sounds cool.
The Nintendo Life users have got me hyped for this game now and rightly so. Cheers to you all, lots.

Absolutely. I've stopped several times just to look at the surroundings. Visually, the game is without doubt a work of art.

I beat the first boss in momohime's story

Well, I finished up Kisuke's story today, so I have both beaten and now I'm going to spend my Muramasa time exploring. I can take a stab at your questions, JamieO, if you don't mind.

JamieO wrote:

Yes, you build experience throught the game, earning it whenever you defeat enemies. You will also gain new accessories, but the accessory system is kind of shallow, if you ask me. Only one slot for them, and there isn't a lot of variety; some, but not a lot. As for leveling up continuously, I have no idea if there's a level cap.

Yes. Next question.

JamieO wrote:

Yes, it definitely has a connection to Metroidvania in that way. Parts of Japan are blocked off by mystical barriers; the only way to break through is to gain new swords that can cut through them.

It really depends on what kind of gamer you are. Me, I rarely stop to smell the roses or do sidequests while the main quest is still going, so it took me an average of 7 hours a story. If you aren't like me, it could take quite a lot longer.

Hope this helps you out, JamieO.

I'm upset. I just made a decent reply and the connection timed out. I don't think I can cuss here so I won't say anything more.

Buy it ! Everyone is so tentative about this game. The reviews are decent, but everyone who has bought it has really liked it. I don't know of anyone who has said it was overrated or they didn't enjoy it. Or that they were offended.

@PhoenixSage Your answers helped me out lots, superb! I could not have hoped for a better response ( I am a bit of an easily side tracked, spend ages exploring type of gamer, by the way. lol). It was really kind of you to take the time to answer.
Thank you very much.

@Ramandus I sympathise with spending ages typing a reply and then losing it, that drives me nuts. I was not especially apprehensive about buying Muramasa, I am just a bit skint at the moment and £38 ($63.50 USD), is a lot of money to me.
I have ordered it now and I am really looking forward to it. I will definitely be completing this one.

I imagine it will take me about ten hours in total to complete each story since I'm on Act 6 of Momohime's story and am about seven hours in. Can't say enough about how staggeringly gorgeous the game is. There are many areas I can just stop at and stare for minutes, soaking in the artistry. Truly outstanding work by Vanillaware in the art direction department.

Love the combat system too. Very kinetic, requires quite a bit of strategy (especially during boss fights), and only devolves to being a button masher on the easier regular enemy fights... which are actually a lot of fun. Nothing beats pummeling the A button and smashing your enemies into violent submission. XD

Awesome game, all-around. Can't recommend it to fellow hardcore Wii gamers enough. Definite early Game of the Year material, even if it's still a bit too early to make that call.

@JamieO: Not a probelm at all. Glad to be of help.

Not very far. I'm still waiting on a review copy.

Plain old gamer :)

Knux

Well, I completed both characters' stories, but there is still a lot I need to complete in Muramasa. I need to see all the alternate endings and alternate final bosses. I already unlocked and defeated a secret final boss and unlocked an alternate ending in Momohine's Story. There are optional secret bosses to defeat in both stories, and secret areas to explore. Muramasa has a lot of replay value, that's for sure!

Just a couple hours in so far, but I can't recommend it more highly. This is easily the best looking game I've played on the Wii, such an attention to detail. I too just find myself stopping to look at the scenery! Great gameplay too, can't wait for some of the later bosses.

Syr's Backloggery! (Way out of date -.-)

Redokun

I'm on Chapter 4 of Momohime's story.

Sorry, my english sucks <.<
