What do you guys think will be the next franchise skip whenever it comes? Metroid was skipped during the N64 era, mainstream Kirby during Gamecube, Starfox during the wii, etc. Personally I think mario should take a break just once to let the others see light, and have him regain the respect he lost from all the spinoffs. Anyway, tell me your thoughts.
for wii successor its the Wii series also Metroid was skipped because the creator died and I bet it was harder for them to think of how to do a new one

F-Zero skipped on the Wii, too. Anyway, you can be sure that they'll never make Mario skip a generation. He's just way too big and important for Nintendo. If any series will skip the next generation console, it'll probably be Kirby once more, but you never know.

Yeah I can see Kirby again since we get 3 Kirby games in one year

Kirby got lots of love on the DS too which is good. The Wii might skip Pikmin (not taking in account the New Play Control remakes) because who knows what platform Pikmin 3 will eventually show up on (3DS or this rumored new console now could be options instead of the Wii). Chibi-Robo! is skipped for this console generation and the other two DS games in the series didn't even release outside of Japan . Fire Emblem could be considered a series to skip considering the latest release on the Wii wasn't very good.

Chibi Robo: Park Patrol was released outside Japan, although the better one is the Japan-only game. But, I got hours of enjoyment out of chibi-robo: PP.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Don't forget that Sega didn't make a mainstream Sonic game for the Sega Saturn, so not even mascots are immune to this.
You haven't heard of Sonic Xtreme? One of the devs almost DIED overworking as Sega wanted to push it out while Mario 64 was still hot.
Also Gumpei Yokoi (the Metroid creater) resigned, disgusted, from Nintendo a year before he died (after they pushed his invention, the Virtual Boy, out the door while it was still unfinished). So he probably wouldn't have provided input on a new game anyways.
I do like to see Nintendo experiment a little bit. Maybe they can send Miyamoto and a few close developers to Retro Studios to keep building the old series and come up with new ones in Japan. What do you guys think needs a revival-maybe from NES-SNES days?
