According to the operations guide, each tale is worth 300 points. So you'll end up paying 3200 points to get everything. Not all tales are available yet. They will periodically be made available, with the last one not being available until September 7th.
If the content is good I'm cool. I can stretch out the purchases over many months (assuming they don't take many months to release them) which will also make budgeting for them easier.
Well, the game is out and I'm not sure if I am going to download it. I read the operations guide and if you want to play the "full" game you have to shell out 3700 points for the whole thing. Yes, you can buy the first installment of the game for only 800 points but the rest will be mandatory if you want to complete the game: this isn't optional DLC! This will most likely be just like S.I.G.E. unfortunately. I will most likely wait for the review but if anyone is bold enough to take the plunge, please let us know about the game!
800 points plus 300 more per episode equals a reasonable price for a full title, provided the episodes are reasonably long. I have no problem with this pricing structure at this time.

I got excited and purchased this too fast... 3700 points after all is said and done!? F-that... I bought the first DLC pack and it was only 15 blocks... Which means this should've been sold with the game to begin with! Then again, this is a BRAND NEW SNES-style FF title. Which is worth $37 to me, maybe this episodic thing will make the gameplay ridiculously long!
@Sean Aaron I have both your Wii Console codes pending on mine... Could you please add my console FC to both?!
Phew! Yes, it´s definitly expensive for a WiiWare title. At least the remaining chapters are a bit less costy. My plan is to buy the first dlc and see if it´s worth it once we get After Years in Europe.
Sadly this game really is 3700 points. 800 points to start out, followed by 7 chapters at 300 points a piece and lastly the final chapter at 800 points. But is it worth it? I'm just going to wait for the review!
3200 points isn't too much. It is still cheaper than normal S-E DS title.
I'd say those are too much, too, but that's just me. 10-20 year old games do not deserve price tags like those, and After Years is a game much like these, so its price seems high, too. Awaiting the reviews though. If it's better than the original IV, it might be worth it.
Well im not too dissapointed. I imagined it would be 800 points to start with as it is in the style of Snes games which also retail at 800 points. But I thought the DLC would be only 200 points per episode... ...but to be honest if each episode is of a decent length and I enjoy the initial download then I suppose paying 300 points every so often wont feel so bad.

I downloaded the base game last night and so far, it's really good! The way they shrank Baron for no apparent reason is weird, but not really a HUGE problem. There are some old-school design issues that don't exist on the DS version of FFIV (can't find a bestiary in-game anywhere, Libra spell isn't nearly as useful, maybe more I can't remember right off hand...), but if you like that kind of thing and/or have played an older version of FFIV (my first version was PS1), it shouldn't be a problem for you.

You guys really. It's downloable content. Most downloadable content you have to purchase, if you want to continue playing the game. Those contents aren't mandatory. They are just tales of each character, and gives the player more time playing. For a long time we demanded extra content, or more stories. And we finally got it, and it's up to you to download it or not. 800 points if for the main story, and if you want to play some more, purchase the additional stories.
All i want to know is if purchasing them, will just unlock a code to play the story. Or if it's actually downloading it.

Its actual content you're downloading and not unlock codes. Unlock codes would just be 1 block, the DLC is 5-7 or 17 (17 being the final pack which contains 3). If you think that seems small you've got to remember the graphics and music are in the base package.
I'm not a big fan of the scheduling but to see an ending it is 1600 points (800 for initial pack of 3 stories and 800 for the final pack...when it hits in September). I'm probably going to give it a miss as I feel it is too costly (I really wanted all the tales and I'm not sure I would be content with "now forget about it until September"). I might be in for the base package but I've got to wait for it to come out over here and also I want to finish my FFV playthrough.
can't find a bestiary in-game anywhere The game has loads of rare item drops (like the pointless Goblin summon) and a few rare enemies (NPCs will give you hints of where and when to find these) so that is quite disappointing.
