Uhh... whoa. That's a lot of episodes. See the official site, then head to "Tales" (Story section). On the second page, it says: "Unravel the mysterious events befalling the Blue Planet through nine episodic tales". How interesting. And yeah, this better be DLC.
I thought this was well known since that's how they distributed the phone version? Not sure about DLC, on one hand individual games would clog up the WW release list, on the other DLC would clog up the internal memory.
It is REAL, the game is divided by chapters, and the game coming for June is just a starter pack with a prologue chapter of the story. D.a.m.n .you Square Enix for milking your Final Fantasy games at dishonest ways. Expect the same for My life as a Darklord.
If FFCC MLAAK serves as a indication, the whole FFIV The After Years would cost around $30-35 . Do the math: "base" game: $10-15. Nine separates "tales", each one at $2, 2x9=18. Anyone in this forum know how much cost the FFCC MLAAK DLCs?
At this rate, I'm not buying it. Square Enix can take their DLC and...do things with it.

Prediction: Rather than release each episode (which consist of 3 chapters each) individually on WiiWare, it sounds like the game will be one title. For ~1000 points, players download the game, which consists of the first episode already available. In this file, most of the game's content (graphics, some music, etc) is already available, but players have to download each episode to use the data correctly. Each of these additional episodes will probably run at most 500 points (and probably be of smaller size than the main file, for easy storage on the Wii console). As a result, the game costs a total of 5000 points. The episodes should become available after a set time, available for download on the main game, not the Wii Shop. There is a chance that Nintendo will mention the release of a new episode in PR, but people will have to download the main game in order to access the other episodes. Having it all connect to one file allows for a single save file to be made, rather than have multiple programs latch onto one save (and thus, creating a potential exploit).
My Life as a King base game + all DLC except costumes (no WAY I'm wasting money on THOSE!) = $35. Which is a good price for the game, really, and nobody would be complaining if it was on a retail disc (if it was, they would've doubtlessly charged $50, too).
I think that this game is going to turn out the same way as far as value for content goes. I see this up and down the internet, with people complaining about the cost of downloadable games going up without considering the fact that the expensive ones have more to them!
All that said, I think After Years will work out as long as they don't charge way too much per episode. If the base first chapter is $15 and they dare charge $5 per episode after that, THEN I'll have a very vocalized problem with the situation!

I certainly hope so. Whoever gets it first hopefully will come back and verify for us. Then again, the official site did say 1-4 players meanwhile the update only indicates 1 player so we'll see about that too.
Based on what's available to view on the game site, I'd say the download released today includes only the first "Tale" which is titled like the overall game and includes subsections called "Return of the Moon," "The Last of the Red Wings," and "Return of the Dragoon." None of the other Tales have listed details on that site yet, which is what leads me to believe this is probable.
