I like the Wii remote a lot. The best controller I ever used but I don't think it is fair to compare to the traditional models.
For a traditional model, I would say the new white GameCube controller with long cables. The GameCube controller ergonomics is just the best I ever experienced in a traditional controller. Add the vibration feedback feature, the convenience of a long cable, and the lack of battery replacement, it beats the WaveBird to the prize.
Ooooooh I like different bits of different ones. The Wavebiord is by far the best really, but the GC had criminally rubbish shoulder triggers. The N64 trident was another favourite of mine but looking back the GC and Wii have much improved Analogue sticks.

I am split equally between the GC controller and the Wii-mote+nunchuck. For classic gaming/2D gaming I do have come to liking of the Class Controller. But I would have to have I am more partial to DualShock (I know it's not a Nintendo controller but it feels the best in my hands).
Any word on when the US is going to be getting Wii Classic Controller Pro?
Just so everyone knows, the white gamecube controller is called the Chameleon I believe. I believe tha chameleon is the best, but I also like the wiimote+nunchuck combo.
1-UPS for Wiimote: Wireless, feels great to hold in the hand, is great to play NES and Master System titles on the VC, makes you feel like a blast from the past.
1-UPS For The GC Controller: An analog stick for camera, feels great in the hand, triggers are great.
Deaths for the Wiimote: IR can be annoying sometimes, B trigger sticks sometimes (Atleast on my Wiimote)
Deaths for the GC Controller: Camera analog isn't very convenient to reach, Y and X buttons are kind of slippery, NOT WIRELESS! (atleast, the original)
Overall Better one that made it to the flag: Wiimote!

Definitely the Spice-colored Cube controller. (Yes, color matters!) Next up would be the black N64 controller followed by SNES controller. The only trouble that I've had with the N64 controller was the buildup of white powder near the control stick and blisters from Mario Party.
The Wii Remote isn't comfortable to me in the slightest; it is the first controller since the Dreamcast to give me sore wrists. Thankfully, I have a few BOSS shells.
i'm surprised to see a few people like the 64 controller better than the gamecube's. it's hard to find one thing about it the gamecube controller didn't improve on... the rubberized cube joystick is easier to grip, not to mention it actually lasts longer than a year without wearing out. the grips fill your hands better and are spaced apart much more comfortably, not to mention there's only 2 of them (goodbye goofy waste of plastic on the far left). the rumble is improved with 2 motors built into each side of the controller instead of just one hanging out the back. the button placement is good on both... the n64 had few buttons but certainly worked fine back then. the cube has a better thought out placement that works beautifully with most games, although the few it doesn't work with don't work at all... it's one weakness. it's still probably the most perfect nintendo controller in my opinion.
the wiimote+nunchuck would be about as good as it gets if the wiimote actually had some buttons on it in places you can reach. the nunchuck joystick might be the best one nintendo has ever made; the inner grip rings from the 64 and cube are ditched so that your thumb can sit flat on the top of the stick with a single ring left on the rim to keep it from slipping out; a simple little thing but it's super comfortable that way. and being able to move your both your hands wherever while you play is the wave of the future, i tell you.
the classic controller pro is another great one, keeping everything that made the SNES controller great while adding amazingly comfortable handles and being quasi-wireless. if it had rumble it might be my favorite one...
I don't know why people have such a problem with the N64 controller. I loved it, and you guys must be doing something retarded with the control stick if you think it breaks that easily. Some of my controllers are 15 years old, and still working perfectly. I played the N64 more than any system I've ever owned, and never had a problem with the controller.
