I haven't seen any posts about this, so first off, for you long time users, I apologize if this is a double post.

I was just wondering if anyone has any inside information about Fatal Frame 4, I know it is in Japan but is there any word for a US release. I loved the Fatal Frame series and still own the whole original copies with cases and factory sealed (of course I have unsealed copies for playing). Anyways, I remember seeing news about the new Fatal Frame 4 coming out on the Wii back in 2007-2008 but I haven't seen anything since. Does anyone know what's going on?

Nintendo decided not to release it outside japan. Since they're the publisher of this game, what they say is final.

Yep, the loss of Fatal Frame 4 was proper annoying - there is an unofficial fan translation floating about somewhere online I belive...
Cursed Mountain or Silent Hill might be good alternatives if you're a fan of horror (and aint already played them).

Nintendo of America took the decision not to publish the game in North America and, whilst Nintendo of Europe did intend to release the game in the UK and Europe, they later cancelled it. I expect it's down to poor sales - it sold around 60,000 copies in Japan in the same time it'd take even an average title to sell quite a lot more.

the game might not be that good or might not sell enough, but Nintendo had to publish this game in America. Reggie btw said that they're not the publisher. I dunno. it had to be published because it's something that Nintendo can show the critics that it's on their console and not on the competitors. if you don't make the effort to bring this, it's just unfortunate because of the console wars. otherwise, it's probably a good decision.

So ends a saga older than time itself.
