Yea, I seriously have no hope of Cave Story coming out this month. My guess is it'll be the Christmas update. I am sadly not as optimistic as I pretend to be (though I didn't know about Pokemon Rumble since I don't even know what that is). I was just joshing around.
Oh no worries man. Maybe my post came off as negative. Sorry if it came off that way. I really do hope Cave Story does come soon. I know tons of people want this game, including me.
Well for my first impressions so far its a little too much for me on the simplistic side, but im finding the more I play it, the more I enjoy it. I don't really like the first few tracks on bronze cup, but I like the levels on Silver and gold cup much better. Online is alright for me so far. Only have played a few matches online. I think I need to play a bit more in order to give a fair opinion of this game, but as it stands right now I would give it about a 6 or 7.
When I first played it I thought it was sort of meh but after a while, it has grown on me. The presentation reminds me very much of ExciteBots which is a plus. I've only completed bronze cup so far and have found it very difficult to aquire an S rank on some courses. Most of my time with the game has been online and I must say that it runs very smooth. I also like that even if you come in last in a match, you still at least gain one point and never really lose anything which makes it easier to play for a long time without the looming threat of losing everything. The game is well put together and flows nicely. I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
I have to agree with Vaynard, the games seems simplistic but it’s not bad. Turbo is essential in this game, without it you'll just get B-ranks. Turbo also helps later on like in Silver cup where you need to make big jumps in order to avoid slamming into hills. To perform a turbo boost at the beginning of the race you press 1 and 2 at the same time, if you did it right your bike will be ripping into the terrain.
Wow, what little interest I previously had, gone in an instant. That really is a shocker for a Nintendo game. What were they thinking? I mean, it's Excite Bike... If the NES could handle it, why not the Wii? It was originally a 2P game, right? I seem to remember it being so, but I barely played the game.
No split-screen multiplayer? Well, there's something I thought I'd never see from Nintendo. Are they trying to act like their competitors and see if Nintendo fans will act positively or negatively to the kinds of things that the other companies have? Does this mean that there's still hop for Project H.A.M.M.E.R.? Too many questions and so little answers...

Played through the Bronze Cup and got all S grades (not on first try of course). It's a very solid title, and holds quite a bit of nostalgia, which adds to its goodness. I haven't dabbled in the online yet.
I too was surprised at the lack of local multiplayer, but it's not that big of a deal for me as I don't always have someone to local multiplay with. And even in a game like Excitetruck that did have local multiplay, my friends and I never bothered with it. It was far more interesting trying to beat races and get S grades.
All in all, Excitebike is definitely worth the purchase from what I've seen so far. No regrets here.

The online is actually a lot of fun. I played a few matches just a little bit ago - had no trouble with lag or finding players. I even got 1st place in the second match I played against 3 other people.
I love being able to knock down other bikes...
And I'm glad it shows profile names during the race. Nothing is more irksome about Nintendo's online system than certain games where the other players are unidentified. You may as well just be playing the computer.

I was a big fan of the original. My thing right now is do I just wanna buy the original for nostalgia, or check out this version at twice the price. I must admit, online functionality sounds pretty good, so more than likely I will be buying this later in the week. Glad to hear people are liking it.
