The Wiimote would handle it better than a standard gamepad, so it would be nice to see it pop up.

Would be fun. Note that the first game has really evil and impossible puzzles, though.

I don`t think so, those games were released on PC, PS1 and Saturn and none of the systems are avaible on VC. And who holds the licence for DW nowadays? A shame though, great games with fantastic voiceover never to be seen again...

The Saturn is notoriously difficult to emulate apparently. The PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 couldn't do it.

But if Symphony of the Night can make it to XBOX 360 as a downloadable game then some PlayStation titles could be emulated on the "Wii 2" I assume.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I think the Discworld games would be far too large to be put on the VC and would be way above the 40MB limit, however it would be nice to see 1 & 2 released together as a full disc release, although it probably wouldn't sell well enough for it to be worth the developers while.

Damn I have a craving to play Discworld now, I will check E-bay for the PC version when I finish work.

You can forget about Discworld hitting VC (like liquidsoul said). I could see Maniac Mansion hitting VC since that one was also released by Lucas Arts on the NES. I wouldn't mind seeing more adventures on Wiiware and VC.

Well I read some where that the PS1 games are a few years from becoming freeware (If I read that right) The last Discworld game made was an adventure cell phone game. It seems Discworld is getting popular again with the Hogfather and Colour of Magic live action movies made in the last few years and the Going Postal movie comming out next year. We might at least get a new Point and Click game. I hope so,

Do you have a source about PS1 games becoming freeware. Because I highly doubt it. Some people call abandon ware legal, but it isn't. And aobut PS1 games, aren't they currently re-released in the Playstation Store on the PS3?

well something on the wikipedia site talks about it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discworld_(video_game)

Here's what it said: "The developers of ScummVM have negotiated the release of the game's source code and the game's 'Tinsel' engine has, after several years, finally been implemented into ScummVM. At time of writing, Discworld is not yet a freeware title."

That doesn't mean that the PS1 games are going to be released as freeware anytime soon. From all the games that are using the ScummVM engine, only Beneath A Steel Sky, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Lure of the Temptress and Drascula have been released as freeware. For the other games, you still need the original cd. And they are talking about the PC version anyway, not the PS1 version.

A new one would be great. It could be about the City Watch. That is the most popoular franchise today anyway. A book like THUD! or Men At Arms are great material to be turned into a Point `n Click game.
Well, I`m just dreaming...

I reckon they could make a football game based on the latest Discworld book.

If it's getting a new engine I wonder if that means it just might beable to put the game on Wii's VC,

No. The problem is (as liquidsoul mentioned) that it has only been release on DOS, Mac, PlayStation and the Sega Saturn. Non of which are available on the Wii's VC.

The bigger problem is that Discworld is around 430MB and the limit for Wiiware/VC games is 40MB, no amount of compression will make the file small enough, unless they split it up into 10 or 11 episodes ala Tales of Monkey Island which would be a ridiculous idea.

The only way we will see Discworld on the Wii is a full disc release, in which case they should release Discworld 1 & 2 together on 1 disc and possibly include Discworld Noir also.

I don't know if it is 430 MB but the PC version of Tales of Monkey Island is around the 200/250 MB (installation file) and that's ported to the Wii. And that's 3D, so with current technologies I think that they could compress the sound and images even more. But what are we talking about, there is no possibility that it could hit VC (no systems), a retail release would be awesome though.
