Topic: Ugh...make up your mind Wii! (stupid error)

If you don't know what the problem is, how are we supposed to help? You haven't even told us what kind of error it is.

I accidentally deleted the original post...its a disc read error, it started working again, but the error started popping up after playing another game...and...I've no clue what it is, since the discs looked clean.

Does it give you an error number?

Nope,m just says to use the manual...(which doesn't really solve anything for me)
And just tried Other M, the disc is perfectly clean, and I got the error...
EDIT: Yeah, trying a bunch of games and it looks like it IS the disc drive...ugh. >_>

does it only mess up on other m? if so, try ssbb as well. they're both dual layer. if your wii's lens is off center a bit it won't read the dual layer discs, so just call nintendo and they should fix it for free. i had the problem twice, while i wasn't under warranty, and they fixed it.

And before I forget, the system is picking up the game on the menu, but the error shows up as soon as you hit Start.

Try calling or emailing Nintendo. It sounds like you might have a bad lens there and might have to send it in for repairs.

@Guardian: You sure about the free part?...Last time my disc drive went out and I had to pay like $100 for the repair...and yeah I just tried Monster Hunter and got the error right after the "Capcom" logo.
And it seemed to have an error as well on my mom's Wii Fit, and my sister's Just Dance game.

positive. just tell em it won't read brawl. don't tell em anything else and you should be good. this was a couple years ago though, they may have changed it, but it's worth a shot

Got the same problem as me by the sounds of things, just have to install a brand new hard drive, sorry about that then dude or dudette. :/ Mine read a game for a little while and then cut it out or it didn't read the disc at all and showed an error, so this is most likely the disc drive.
Cheapest idea would probably to do it yourself, but if your not confident in doing that, then you'll have to send it into Nintendo.

Eh I emailed them, hopefully the lens is just dirty and I don't have to deal with sending it in for a repair....I'm kinda low on money, would rather just get that cleaning kit...thing. Asked them to give me any suggestions first...crosses fingers Don't want to send it away again...T_T

EDIT: Which games are dual-layered anyways? Can't remember if DKCR is or not, and I just tried that game and got the error. (was able to get into my game and onto the map, when I loaded a lever the loading time was ridiculously long...decided to quit the level then YAY! Error! lol)

I know that Metroid Prime Trilogy, SSBB and Metroid: Other M are, I don't think there are any other dual layered discs.

Yeah those I know are, along with Tri. Not entirely sure with Returns though...

dkcr isn't, just ssbb, mpt, mom, and some samurai game as far as i know

Well...whatever, I'll just wait and hear from Nintendo...chances are, dirty lens...and I'll just pay $10 for the kit.

...Well, the emailed me back, not even suggesting the cleaning kit...ugh, so...What am I doing here...just send it in already and deal with the $75? Or risk spending even more if the kit doesn't work... T_T

I started getting the disc read error last year and had to buy a new Wii. The problem with mine was that the Wii wasn't even spinning the discs. I wasn't about to spend money to have it fixed. I sold my broke Wii on ebay for over 70 dollars (it had a lot of downloaded games) and then bought a new one. Wiis are so cheap now, you might as well buy a new one and then sell back Mario kart if you already have it. Unless you can wait for the Wii's successor, but I couldn't.

Of course they are not going suggest an alternative. They want your money.
