It used to be one game per month or every other month in 2007, then about one every three or four months in 2008. And now it's about one or two in 2009 depending on the region (1 NA, 2 for EU and JP). Did the N64's $10 download price tag result in poor sales that games stopped coming out for it? Good thing Xbox Live still has Perfect Dark coming out so at least we can say there's at least another N64 "VC" game coming out this year.
The N64 has a small library compared to some other VC consoles, the lack of 3rd party support for the system and Microsoft buying Rare, means there is little to release on it that isn't 1st party.
I think the problem is that the N64 didn't had a lot of games except from Nintendo and Rare but we all know that Rare's games are a no-no.
Besides Donkey Kong 64, Pokemon stadium and the Mario party games I don't see other Nintendo games coming. 3d parties are very picky with the VC so I dunno what they plan to do. It would be nice to see Resident evil 2 and Castlevania 64 but I won't be surprised if Capcom and/or Konami wouldn't release N64 games anymore.
Pokemon Stadium won't be coming - its useless without being able to connect to the Game Boy games.
Oh and remember, its Nintendo published games that get released on the VC, not always Nintendo developed. Nintendo originally published some games that other companies made. HAL, Treasure, Midway and Intelligent Systems have a game on the VC N64 through Nintendo publishing their games originally and again for the VC. Bomberman 64 was published by Nintendo on the N64 so its not impossible for Nintendo to publish it on the VC.

[21:15] pixelman: OB knows what he's asking about.
Unless Disney makes the effort, then the chances of playing Lion King on VC are next to zero, problem is many companies made games for Disney, so they probably see it as too much hassle to bother with.
I think it's weird if SSB is coming out in Christmas, in 25th December 2008 we got to know that SSB was going to come to the VC. I think it will happen but i still think it's weird.
The Nintendo 64 is not in a good situation on the Virtual Console. It litterally has no third-party support to speak of and very few likely or even questionable 1st party/2nd party Nintendo 64 titles could arrive on the Virtual Console.
The console needs third-party support, the question is, will it ever happen? That console is my very favorite system, and considering that I will not be able to get an Nintendo 64 anytime soon, it has to prove to newer Nintendo fans that Nintendo isn't the only company for the system.
Like others have said, yeah, there's just not as much to release from the system. There's absolutely no excuse for North America not to have Smash Bros, however.
Future Wii purchases: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Metroid: Other M Zelda Wii New Super Mario Bros. Wii Sin and Punishment 2
If Nintendo just release Mario Party 1-3 on the VC for the N64 then I will be happy! I would like to see some other games (Goldeneye, DK64, BK, BT) but they are unlikely.

Pokemon Stadium on VC + Pokemon on DSi VC + wireless connection transfer pak emulation. This would be sweet. However, it's pretty unlikely, seeing as they can't even do rumble support for N64 games with GCN controllers. I'd be willing to get it just for the minigames though almost. My friend would bring Stadium 2 over, and we always just played the minigames.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
I've pretty much given up on N64 VC support, so I went out and bought one today. Blast Corps FTW!
I bought one a while back myself. Now I'm looking for a controller that works, might have to just buy a part the fix the controller that came with the system. The stick is wore out.
The controller I got is like brand-new. I don't know what wonders they did to it, but it's magical. I find myself over-aiming in Perfect Dark I'm so used to crap N64 sticks.
