How many people own this title?

I'm little over half way through this title and I'm enjoying it immensely. This game has certainly lived up to its NL 9/10 rating. It is my first rail shooter, and while it took me a bit of getting used to, I'm definitely liking it now. Here is to hoping that EA decides to continue this IP on the Wii.

I own it. This game is more cinematic than other rail shooters --

I have it, and haven't quite finished it yet (I think maybe one more episode to go?) but will get around to that soon. Very entertaining, and like you this is the first time I've ever purchased a rail shooter. I remember rail shooters from the arcade days, and primarily just shooting like crazy while constantly reloading; this game is much better balanced in how it captures a survival horror feel by making you think carefully about your ammo, which weapons to keep for an upcoming onslaught, etc. Nice atmosphere as well, and generally pretty well done voice acting as video games go.

I also had a go at the challenge mode with a friend, trying to survive as many waves of attacker as possible, and I was surprised about the level of teamwork that is possible with the strategic dismemberment, changing up our weapons and styles of attack to take out different units approaching, and so forth. Good fun.

It definitely has a great story. The one thing I can either not find, or they don't have, is the ability to go back and re-listen to the audio files, or re-read the written logs that you find in each chapter (without having to go back and replay the entire level). I also am enjoying the additional content (6 chapter comic/movie) supplied with the game.

Regarding those audio logs, I made a stupid mistake and missed them on my first play-through up until about the 5th chapter, so I'll need to go back and hear them. I had my controller's internal speaker disabled for another game, and completely forgot to turn it back on. Each time I picked up an audio log, I was wondering how to access it; then when I finally had the speaker turned on one night to play, I slapped my forehead upon suddenly hearing the voices come out of the controller. Who knows what I missed that entire time.

I really enjoy this one. I was originally down to review it and would definitely have given it a 9/10 as well. Shame it under-performed, but hopefully lifetime sales will be enough to justify another instalment. I've yet to finish all the challenges, but it's definitely a game I'm happy to have on the shelf alongside the Resident Evil "Chronicles" titles.

I finally just watched the Dead Space cartoon on xbox Live. That led me to purchase the 360 game yesterday at Best Buy. I figured at 14.99, I couldn't go wrong. Hopefully, the next step will be to try Extraction on the Wii. I don't have any on-rails shooters so I think this would be a nice entry into that genre.

Just beat this game. Was definitely a quality game, and I'm looking forward to EA bringing a second title to this series for the Wii in the future.

I own it. Haven't played it yet. Probably going to play the original Dead Space to get some info on the series before I hop into Extraction.

Since Dead Space: Extraction actually is set in a period of time BEFORE the first Dead Space game, you shouldn't miss much info. Plus, if you keep abreast of the audio and written logs that you pick up in the game, and play the bonus material as it becomes unlocked ... it's chock full of information. That's part of the reason I was so impressed with this game ... it's completely fleshed out.

I really enjoyed the original Dead Space, so I picked this one up with low expectations (a rail shooter prequel?), but was pleasantly surprised with how good the game was.

A really great package, EA have managed to make an on the rails shooter that doesnt feel on the rails. Rather than waiting for hordes of aliens to attack you and shoot you spend most of the non combat time searching for ammo, opening lockers and basically doing so much you dont even notice the lack of control over the well written story. The digtal comic books and the challenge mode are a great bonus to an already well made game.
Unfortunately I missed out on all the great offers that are out for this game at the moment but to be honest I dont regret paying full price. I recomend anybody who doesnt own this already should pick it up now while its cheep.

Favourite part... it has to be the big plant monster thing in the hydroponics section. Reminds me of the first time I encounted the snake boss way way back in resi evil one.

Not happening. When games don't sell, they get cut.

Why is everybody saying this? They say the same thing on Destructoid, no matter how many good reviews have come out. What is so bad about rail shooters?

The original Dead Space on both the PS3, 360 and PC sold badly at the begining but over a period of time it managed to crack the 1 million point combined. But I think that although Extraction had poor initial sales EA are trying to hit all fronts and I can imagine a sequel will still be made considering the favourable reviews and increased secondary sales (slow burn is what they call it).The merchandising alone on the Dead Space franchise will keep the games going for a long time yet.

Well, the shift in both platforms and genres was my biggest concern. Regarding rail shooters, I'm just not the biggest fan of them.

Picked it up half price today in the sales (bonus), and thoroughly enjoyed the first few levels. I was very surprised by the quality of the graphics, audio, controls, etc... super sweet! It's still just on rails shooter which make me yawn a bit, but at least this goes someway to engage you with a really eerie sci-fi atmosphere (which I love) and decent voice acting. I'll play more tomorrow, can't wait.

One thing though, whilst the story bits are great first time through, I know they'll annoy me by my 3rd/4th run as they can be lengthy. Please tell me you can skip them once you've completed it? :/ a minor gripe
