how did you do that? I don't understand!!! What am I lacking? Did you practice day and night? did you die in world 1 more than once? omg...you're like a god to me

Hes a god to you?
I beat the game 100% on friday night

omg how did you do that!! I just don't understand, did you own a xbox? ps3? are you a professional gamer? Watching the super guide looks easy but I just can't do it..AWWWWW

Haha no I hate the 360 and I don't own a PS3.
I grew up playing Nintendo and I mastered Super Mario World, SMB3, and the original Super Mario Bros. and have found and remembered every(and I mean every), secret to those games.
So it springs no surprise that I beat this game though I can't say it wasn't a challenge.

I thought luigi is there just to "show" me how to go through the course!!

Nope, when you hit plus while watching the Super Guide you have the option to jump in and start playing where Luigi is at that point during the video.

does it count as completing the course or I still have to do it by myself?

you don't understand the feeling of dying 3X times in the mid castle in world 1 (those squeezing blocks smashed me into meat sauce thousand times)...........and I have to go back to 1-1 to gain more lives...
I spent 3 golden coin to see how can I get unlimited 1up in 1-2 and then during that getting 1up process i killed myself.
I got no extra 1up and I killed myself.

frustrating.

I wish I was born with these gaming skills.

No one's born with gaming skills. It just takes a little while to be good at games.
I mean no ones perfect you know.

Just practice.

Either jump on their head or bust the blocks below their feet. Fire balls and Ice balls work too, and if you do have Yoshi you can eat their hammer and spit it back out and clunk them in the head.

What a variety^^. lol

Hammer Bros are the single most annoying enemy for me in any Mario game because I always time my jumps wrong! Everytime I'm about to jump on them, at that very moment, they decide to throw a Hammer. If they're on desctructible blocks, run under them and hit them from beneath. That's a safe way to take them out. Otherwise, just time your jumps.

EDIT: Yeah, I forgot about those other methods Chrono. All those work, too. =)

I can't get close to them because they're constantly throwing stuff at me

You can just ignore them, also. If you have the propeller suit, then just hover over them and keep going.

Which level? You could always run past them, or jump over them, which is especially easy if you have a Propeller Suit.

EDIT: Beat me to it, Trevor. lol.

where is a good place to stock up on map mushrooms?

Well, you could keep going from world to world and doing the enemy survival challenges. Each time you win those, you get three mushrooms from the Toad you rescue.

Actually even if the super guide let me skip one course, you know, if I can't even do world 1 by myself, how can I survive in world 2.....

The difficulty isn't ramped up at any logical rate from level to level. (Which I actually like! I enjoy "breather" levels, too...) Some really difficult ones are mixed in with some really easy ones. So you may well skip a level you're having trouble with and find the next few doable. Try it!

Also bear in mind that if you're playing with a friend or two (or three), you can die without having to start the level over, or pick up from the checkpoint. That may help you to get further, and is more rewarding than letting Super Guide do all the leg work.

Me too. Those were a low point in the game for me.
I didn't find them particularly interesting or challenging... just irritating.

If you want a challenge, play the one where you're on a raft with a light... but without the raft and light.

Come on, friends,

princess peach, just practice. the people saying they breezed through the game have probably been playing mario platformers for years/decades.

you could try getting some classic mario platformers on the virtual console, and practicing with those. try out super mario world. it's one on the easier games (though not as easy as the ds on). whatever you do, though, don't touch the lost levels one with a hundred foot pole. you'll thank me later.

Edit: as someone else said, it might help playing with someone else. if you play with a good player, the player can stay ahead and kill some of the enemis. if you come to a tricky part of a level, the other player could pick you up and try to get you both through it. also, if you know your about to die (like if you are falling) you can press A to go in the bubble. playing with 1 other player is best. 3 or 4 players just get crazy, because it's very easy to mess each other up.
