The last time I checked, super mario world ain't that easy. If your talking about the earlier levels, I can understand, but even those can be challenging. Especially the later levels.
Last time I checked, it was very easy and lacking most semblance of challenge. Half the levels are outside, and you can just fly over the entire level with the cape. Doesn't stop it from being fun though.

Apparently you're just a platforming master. Super Mario World can be damn challenging at times (esspecially if you don't cheat and don't fly through the levels ) even if it gets off to a slow start. However, I think that NSMBWii is considerably tougher.

I'd love to say you're right, but I'm not a platforming master. I beat Super Mario World when I was a kid. Took me until college to beat Super Mario Brothers 3. I refuse to use the cape now unless I'm using it to get a key. I'm just saying it's an option.
I'm at the middle castle in world 2 now (my boyfriend beat the world 1 big castle for me) I was playing with my boyfriend, but he found me too dumb to play with him, in the mid-castle he had a mid-save point and I accidentally made that mid-save point disappeared, he was so upset
I'm just not good at jumping between fence and avoiding the purple fireball
princess peach, just practice. the people saying they breezed through the game have probably been playing mario platformers for years/decades.
you could try getting some classic mario platformers on the virtual console, and practicing with those. try out super mario world. it's one on the easier games (though not as easy as the ds on). whatever you do, though, don't touch the lost levels one with a hundred foot pole. you'll thank me later.
Edit: as someone else said, it might help playing with someone else. if you play with a good player, the player can stay ahead and kill some of the enemis. if you come to a tricky part of a level, the other player could pick you up and try to get you both through it. also, if you know your about to die (like if you are falling) you can press A to go in the bubble. playing with 1 other player is best. 3 or 4 players just get crazy, because it's very easy to mess each other up.
I tired playing with my boyfriend, and he's always ahead, I put myself into bubble to catch up with him. the bad thing is when he accidentally got killed, I still put myself into a bubble for completely no reason
I'm on world 8-3 now. **POTENTIAL SPOILERS** I found a secret path in world 7's fortress, that took me straight to the boss door in w7's castle, so that world was easy for me HINT: it is before the midway point flag.
