I've read that the Wii has issues with dual layer discs when your Wii is setup vertically, and that it has an easier time reading games when setup horizontally. Just curious - is your setup vertical or horizontal?
Mine is horizontal, but it still had problems reading the disc, especially with Brawl! Then I sent it out to be fixed, and while it seems to take abit longer to load, I haven't had any disc read problems so far!
A couple days ago, I had the first time ever where my Wii wouldn't read Brawl. I rebooted and it was fine. (My Wii is from launch day and I always have it vertical.)

When I first GOT Brawl it always locked up, and the first day I had it I was always afraid to play it because of that. It's better now, though
I just ordered my copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy and I would like to ask some questions about this problem, since I don't want to end up with a broken Wii.
Don't worry, the disc doesn't do any harm to the console. It's just a question of whether or not it will be able to read it. Hopefully it will work fine.
Bought MPT and the Nintendo cleaning kit. First try with MPT disc and Wii was unable to read anything there. After using the cleaning kit the disk was read normally.
