Wiiware as a whole is pretty bad. A few gems, but most of it isn't worth downloading.

what he said. My first download was Onslaught, which left me a little disappointed. Next was Bit.Trip Beat, which was okay, but not good enough to justify its difficulty. Then I downloaded Swords and Soldiers, which restored my faith in WiiWare. It's my favorite, by far. Muscle March is pretty fun for 500 points too, that one didn't let me down.

I thought World of Goo sucked. So not worth 1500 points, IMO.

The only must haves I see are ones that do things differently, instead of copying something else. That makes World of Goo, Swords and Soldiers. There are tons of great games on the service, but those are the only two that I think anybody can get into immediately. Lost Winds is too slow paced for some people, and the Bit Trip games might seem too "retro."
As for the topic itself, I've bought around 15-17 wiiware titles.

I'd love to see a game like Rez get re-released on the WiiWare - something like that would make me purchase a title (I'm sure that'd fit in the size limit).

I actually just thought - I have been very interested in the Monkey Island titles but the memory limits have seriously put me off those. With 3D graphics and all that speech, there can't be that much gameplay in each chapter. Well that is the case with Sam & Max but that was a disc release and I assume it works out much cheaper for all 5 Sam & Max chapters than all 5 Monkey Island chapters.

Bit.Trip Core, Blaster Master Overdrive, Mega Man 9, NyxQuest, and soon Mega Man 10.
I love them all except B.TC.

The latter 4 are very much worth the $10.

I have about 5 WiiWare games as opposed to like 20 VC games. I only download the ones that I have interest in or get a 8/10 or higher on this sight.

FYI some good ones:

  • World of Goo (only played demo)
  • LostWinds 1 & 2 (2 is better imo)
  • Onslaught (Good value for its price)
  • NyxQuest (only played demo)

I'm probably missing a bunch of other great WiiWare games.

Yep...even though I had my wii since they drop, ive only recently been able to get online. Still no VC games for me either. Lately every points card I have put away for the Wii ends up getting used on DSI Ware greatness.(games) Would like to finally get a downloaded game for the Wii though. Maybe after Dsiware slows down a little.

I've always been enthralled by WiiWare, for some reason. I remember when I first read about it in Game Informer Magazine (back when they still had some shred of dignity) and how incredibly awesome it sounded. I bought Dr. Mario and Pokemon Ranch on launch day. One of them was a good game. I don't think I need to specify which one.

But looking back I realize there's really only two or three games worth downloading.

Ouch, those are some high standards. I do agree that Wiiware games don't tend to be held to a very high standard though.
