Since I bought my Wii I have downloaded a fair few Virtual Console titles, however I am still yet to touch anything on WiiWare. I'm wondering if anyone else is the same?
I'm certainly not against WiiWare and I'm leaning towards my first purchase when Sonic 4 is released (or I might see if they release it on disc at some point) but most of the other WiiWare titles fail to get me excited. I think it's because, with these being mostly new games, that I'd rather get a disc based title than a new downloadable game. I'm usually put off by the size limits - like can you really get a full quality game on this service or are the titles short with little variety?
With Virtual Console I always know you often get a game that was a full experience from its time, but I just dare not purchase a WiiWare title incase it's nothing more than a lite version of a modern game.
Also, if you only buy WiiWare and not Virtual Console, I'd be interested to know too.
Well, I have more of virtual console than Wiiware, and I wasn't able to buy more because of the Wii size limit. But then hooray for Firmware 4.0! Then I've been having hard times connecting to the internet after that.....
I'm pretty okay.

Your missing out big time. Orbient, World of Goo, Driift Mania, Lost Winds... just some of the amazing games on Wiiware.. there's dozens of others too.
You should start, there a lots of great wiiware games: sbcg4ap lit lostwinds series world of goo tales of monkey island bit. trip series art style series and more...
I fell into the 'hey there's a new service i'll download games for the sake of downloading games' phase (some people are still in this one) when WiiWare first came out.
But looking back I realize there's really only two or three games worth downloading.
Sites (including this one) and Wii owners put WiiWare games to such ridiculously low standards that people actually buy a lot of these things.
I personally haven't downloaded a game since World of Goo.
It depends what you're looking for. I think it was the LostWinds developer who compared downloadable games to short stories, with disc-based games as novels. Some of the short stories, like NyxQuest, are well worth looking into as full-fledged but short games. Considering there are games out there with 5 or 6 hours of gameplay that cost $50 or $60, paying $10 for a four-hour game with a little less flash is not that bad.
There are also some good retro-style titles out there, like the Bit.Trip games, and of course there's the Art Style series for simple high-concept games. As much as I like my WiiWare, though, I started a new Super Mario Galaxy file last night and...wow. I forgot just how good a full-blown AAA title could be. Like potato chips, I couldn't stop at just one star. The only thing that bugged me at all was how easy it was compared to NyxQuest (which I'm 3 hours into right now), with bosses going down on the first try every time.

I only bought my first WiiWare titles this past Christmas, and I've had my Wii for three years. One thing has held me up: lack of demos. I don't like the idea, regardless of the heaping praise, of potentially wasting 5, 10, 15 bucks on a game, when I KNOW what I can get on VC and be guaranteed value for my money. And it paid off this past holiday season; played World Of Goo, found it absolutely HORRIBLE.
Bit.trip Beat, on the other hand, turned out to be addictive and fun, so, boom, I have that and Core. And Castlevania: Rebirth, because I'm a 'Vania mark. Otherwise, no, I won't buy WiiWare until Nintendo does demos.

Though I'll probably cave and get at least World of Goo eventually. Probably also the Megaman games after I get through the VC ones. I would just rather spend $50 and get 30 hours+ of content and even more of replayability (easily blown that on Mario Galaxy, Kart, Brawl, TP, etc.) than spend $10-$15 dollars on a game with about 6 hours of content that I probably won't play again. I know that's a huge generalization, but there are so many VC games I still want, and they just seem the better value for the money in most cases. So many of the WW games can be bought on PC for cheaper too (or let's be real, the iphone), so that's a turn off, even if the games aren't compatible with my mac (I'm looking at you Strong Bad).
However, I love DSiWare, but short, cheap, and quick games are much more suitable for a portable system. When I sit down at my TV, I want to play something more involving.
Edit: So lz, you're Luiga to Feenie's Ho-Oh? That's so nauseatingly adorable!
I haven't either. Outside of World of Goo, many WiiWare games fail to interest me (that'll change when Cave Story is released). I'm thinking of getting Toki Tori at some point too, and possibly La Mulana and Night Game (I know it has a different name now, but I've forgotten it).
I buy WiiWare titles just as much as VC games. I own 42 WiiWare games and 55 VC games and there are still plenty of them on my wishlist. I really don't want to pay more than 15 bucks for a game, so that's why I have so many of them (I only own 14 Wii titles so far).
My first WiiWare game was My Life as a King. This was totally worth 1500 points and I played it longer than most retail games. Got more than 120 hours out of it (without any DLC) and that's the best deal I had in a looong time.
I think I made the best pick that is available on the service with my first download, that's why I never stopped since and already have 46 WiiWare games. (To compare: I have 48 Wii retail games and 65 Virtual Console games.)
my first wiiware game was also my life as a king and there have been interesting games coming out for it after but at that time i didnt really have a job cuz i lost it but here and now i have income but i havent really been getting anything that much however at christmas i got a points card n when i found out megaman 10 was coming im pretty sure i reserved points for it i hope so thats what im getting tommrow.
p.s i better check my wii to make sure i got 1000 in my account before heading to the groceries store just in case so i can buy a point card
I dipped my feet in. Got Dr. Mario, Excitebike, and Pokemon Rumble, but for the longest time (and still now, but with few exceptions) I think wiiware is crap.
