Yep you would be zero. Hunter rank only counts for online. You will find yourself repeating a lot of quests all be it harder. Online offers up a few more quest to do the off though. You might just want to try some online now. Some people hardly ever play off line when they start. Its good for the learning curve though.

@Tech...is HR built upon what is done offline too? Or (even though I'm done all * star quest) if I went online right now my HR would be 0?
Your HR will not carry over to online player put any weapons and armour you get does. It really comes in handy later on when the offline starts to get harder you can build up your hunter online and then go back offline and stand a better chance.
So I went online last night and I have a whopping HR +1. The one star quests online seem much harder than the one star quests offline. I'm glad I put in the time offline but I wasn't expecting it to be THAT much harder.
That because its designed for 4 players. You can try to go it alone but its not worth it. Ends up taking to long if you can do it yourself at all. Stay in the rookie server for now and make some friends that play around the same time as you would. Get a keyboard if you haven't already. You will have a blast online interacting with others. Some will tick you off and some will be really cool and chat it up. Just dont get to many friends that suck since it will seriously take away a lot of much needed money away from you.

Well THAT explains it! Thanks for the advice Tech.
I'll have to say, if I could only play one game for the rest of my life, this could very well be the game (unless of course a Monster Hunter comes to the 3DS.
It does get old after a while say 600 hours. Yes sad to say it but I've clocked in over 600 hours. The most fun I've ever had online though for like six months straight. Enjoy your time and making good friends was always more fun then the game for me. Some of that time was spent talking to h-mac for hours about life things. Mostly video games and anime actually but sometimes only hunted for a few but sat in the lobby talking for hours. Someone would come into the city and we were like just chatting not really playing.
Hahahahahaha...you are right about EO3! 1000 hours or more? I don't think I could come up with that much time in my life that I could spare...even if I wanted to!
I'm at 545 hours. Once you get over 100 HR you are kinda just playing to play. I don't have every weapon and set you can get but everything I wanted to get I have. Like Tech said if you don't have a keyboard it's a must have I got mine at Walmart for $10 and it works fine. I don't play that much any more but there was atleast a two months stretch that this was literally the only game I played.
