I never got the hatred for bloom. It's an effect like anything else to be used well or poorly depending on context, and I think a game all about sailing over the ocean in a ridiculously colorful world makes more sense than most. Seems like something that would really add to the atmosphere.
The Wii U version looks better than that emulator pic, IMO. The colors are better. I guess someone could mod the game to do what Nintendo did with this remake, but whatever. That's kind of a touchy subject...
I don't plan on buying this anytime soon, anyway.
It looks like they just touched up the textures and added some real time effects, then updated it to 1080p. The polygons look the same.
This game will be a nice addition for anyone that hasn't played it on GCN.
Ha! Wind Waker HD w/ figurine (someone had already bid for $80) and the bundle already appearing on eBay. Gamestop might open them and readjust for current market prices. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nk...
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.

That article makes you think about the industry and hd rereleases... I'm still not sure what the intention of the author was though, some of these words are way too strong and out of place.
I just noticed that Zelda Dungeon.net has updated the first four "chapters" (up to Dragon Roost Cavern) of their The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker walkthrough to updated chapters for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. They've included several their own screenshots of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD from all the earlier portions of the game. See them here.
I was sort of on the fence before, but now that I'm getting a good look at the game, I find it pretty clear. The bloom and diffuse light is out of control and clashes incredibly with geometric style that made the original so beautiful, unique, and effective. I have no problem with adding bloom, diffuse, and reflections, but they need to be done in a subtler way that preserves the geometric style.

I think you always have to reserve judgement until you see the game running on a T.V display, youtube videos never do games justice.
Totally agree with you there. While it might look okay on Youtube, Super Mario 3D World looks gorgeous in person, and so does Wind Waker HD. I know thanks to the Best Buy Nintendo E3 event this summer.
The game is so close now I can almost touch it.

The review copies are out there, but there's an embargo until the 18th of September and I think people can only post videos around the 1 min or so.
