No. People will say that it is, those people are wrong.

In a way, yes, but not that much and not for long.

The PS2 was considered a competitor for the X360 years ago, now it's almost obsolete (long life for a console)

that depends if enough people pretend Halo is still relevent

PS2 was a GOOD console, not a GREAT console.
I will admit they had some great games though such as Star Wars battlefront II

New consoles are always compared to waht is out there, so in a way it will be competition

Well I guess technically until the next console from microsoft comes out it will be sort of, though I'm sure at this stage most people looking to buy a new console will have a pretty clear of which one they are getting, I don't expect this to be as close as the PS3/360 competition since they've been out long enough for most people who wanted them to have them, not to mention they seem to be gearing up for the next gen too.

i think there might have been a few better games on PS2

I think the Wii U will have good competition
They have great games coming their way such as Zombie U and NSMBU (ect)
They have Miiverse, a amazing little social network (hope it comes to 3DS)
They have the TVii app/thingy
Voice chat/video chat
and heaps more.......

If the Xbox 720 comes out soon,then yes.But right now,IMO,the Xbox 360 is a novelty toy compared to Wii U.

the novelty is how few relevent games can we have that are not on the Ps3 and/or PC.

It's only competition in the way the PSone was VS SNES so for only a year or so

Personally I'd probably get a PS3 as an alternative to the wii u right now rather than a 360.

Except that the PS1 had graphical capabilities far more advanced than the SNES. And they had completely different games.
