Hey everyone, my name is Jaxon. Everyone here has most likely played the original Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort on the Wii, and most people (at the time anyways) really liked the game, myself included. It was revolutionary coming out of the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era, and for many it was the first time they'd ever experienced a video game that immersed you in such a manner, particularly the bowling and golf.
Well, here we are in 2014, and Nintendo has just released the Golf sport in their new Wii Sports Club eShop exclusive. Now, I was always a fan of the original version of Wii Sports Golf. I can't express to you how many weekends I spent playing that game with my friends, passing the remote back and forth, taking turns teeing off, chipping from bunkers, putting across the greens, etc... So naturally, I was excited to try out this new and improved version on the Wii U, and let me just say, WOW.
The game is phenomenal. Superb. I mean, never in my life have I ever experienced something so immersive and fun right from the living room! Everything has been perfected, and the gameplay has been whittled down to pinpoint accuracy. The Wii U provides all the necessary means for a game like this to truly shine, with modernized technology not available back in 2006. For starters, the game is now in crisp, clean high definition, which actually makes a huge difference. The game now looks how I always imagined it was meant to be seen.
Secondly, the game uses the more accurate Wiimotion Plus technology, reflecting event the slightest tilt of the hand in any direction. I can't believe the first game was actually playable using the old IR-dependent Wiimotes. Oh, how far we've come...
Third (and this is what REALLY sold me on this game), is the Gamepad. Just, wow. It may not sound like much, but actually seeing the golf ball and your club when you're teeing off changes everything! Even the power meter is displayed on the Gamepad for you to see when making your shot. It's so simple yet so brilliant. I actually feel like I'm on a golf course every time I swing the club- it's amazing! Then following through with your shot your head turns upward to the TV and you see the ball flying across the fairway- it really is something to behold.
I went to my friend's house yesterday and me, him and his room mate played Wii Sports Club Golf for hours- all night really lol. His room mate really does golf so he was skeptical about how good the game would be. By the time we were done, he was talking about buying a Wii U- that's how good of an impression Wii Sports Golf (and a little Sonic Racing Transformed of course) left on him. I don't blame him- I'm quite impressed myself!
So I wanted to get everyone else's take on the game. Are you guys enjoying it as much as I am? I don't golf in real life, but I love this game. My friends who DO golf in real life love this game. Is there anyone who has played 9 holes of Wii Sports Club Golf and didn't like it? Just curious, because I feel like this is the perfect video game experience. It's something you absolutely couldn't play anywhere but on Wii U, and it's done so well it's just.... it's just amazing. So representative of real golf it makes Tiger Woods games seem like shovelware lol. That's my take, what do you think?
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
It's okay. I guess it's an improvement over the Wii Sports version, but it's also harder. Maybe I'll get better at it, but so far I'm pretty bad at it and it's hard to fun with a game that you're bad at.

The Miis still don't have arms, though.
I didn't notice about the Mii's arms. No matter. It's definitely harder, but I like that. If the game was too easy it wouldn't be fun in my opinion. I like that the game is very much skill based, and the more you practice the better you get. You should have seen how horrible my buddy was at first. Out of bounds, forgetting to compensate for wind, using the wrong clubs... it was a disaster lol. But after a few rounds he was keeping up- actually ended a 9-hole course only 1 over par, which is pretty fantastic improvement all things considered.
Biggest things to consider is wind speed and wind direction, and learning how much the wind will affect your shot. Also learning to estimate how much power to use, and actually swinging the club with the right amount of power you want to use. So if the hole is 3 dots up on the distance line, then you probably want to swing the power meter 2 and a half, then count on the bounce to get you the rest of the way (that's before factoring in wind of course).

Yeah, I'm familiar with using the dots. I usually practice swing first to try to figure out how much power to use while swinging, but so far it seems inconsistent. Like, my practice swing will be right, then when I try to swing with the same amount of power I end up using way too much or too little, according to the game. Ah, well. I just need more practice.
I have to agree that I think Wii Sports Club: Golf is quite impressive, if not amazing!
I even got my 60 year old parents to play it - they play Golf, and not video games - and not by persuading them, but they saw it and wanted to try it.
My dad was really blown away by it, he thought that the game was so accurate and picked up on his real life golf play style and shortcoming that he stated he could probably use this to tone his real golf skills. The only thing that was missing was the weight of the golf club, and the length of it, and if you hit the ball high or low close to the ground.

Its a slightly updated version (very basic online, HD, putting your $100 controller on the floor) of a 7 year old game we have all played to death already. It's a decent diversion for non-gamers I suppose, but it really has nothing at all on the Tiger Woods or Mario Golf series of games.
I can't say I ever cared much for Wii Sports games. If I wanted to play some golf I would go play Mario Golf, Hot Shots Golf, or Tiger Woods over it. To each their own though.

It may well be. It's certainly close. The games on the rouster exclude no age, sex, or even skill level, need little to no explaination, and are fun and appealing enough as to entertain folks who aren't even fans of the real world counterparts.
I really can't think of another video game that ticks all those boxes.
If you want a more arcade kinda thing go play tiger woods.
I'm sorry, but Tiger Woods is the authentic 'simulation' game, while Wii Sports Golf would have to be considered the arcade version.
Tiger Woods has dozens of real life courses, clothing, clubs, and a wide arrange of customization and real golfers, while Wii Golf is the most basic version of a golf game that is available on the market. Even a throwaway IOS $.99 golf game download will have more customization and depth than Wii Golf.
Not saying its no good, but comparing Wii Golf to Tiger Woods/Mario Golf is like comparing checkers to chess.
It's basically Resort golf with the GamePad as a novelty. Don't get me wrong — I'm having a blast with it — but Tiger Woods is a far more realistic simulation of golf.
