If you took the BO2 percentage at the same time in relation to its release as you did with Ghosts on WiiU (say 3 months I'm not exactly sure when they launched) BO2 on PS3 would have a way higher percentage than it does now.
Be realistic though. Most copies of BO2 are likely gathering dust on shelves at EB or sitting under a pile of games in someone's basement at this point. Lets not pretend that EVERY copy of a three year old game in a yearly franchise is potentially being played online still.
The first few months of a COD release should be when it's at it's highest levels of multiplayer users. Having just 1000 online on Wii-U when you can count the amount of competitive online FPS titles on the console on one hand is low no matter how you try to frame it.
I accept both of these points and you both might be right. However unless someone can show more numbers to suggest otherwise you're just wildly speculating.
How do we know that right now Ghosts is more than 2x more popular than BO2? A hunch? Where's the stats? Ghosts isn't exactly a brand new title either. Show that, for example, when Ghosts has 1000 people online for Wii U there are 100k or 200k people online with Ghosts on the PS3 and then we'll have that discussion.
I have Monster Hunter for my Wii U and I haven't started online yet. I'm still learning the controls and stuff. I will play online as soon as I feel ready.
You should venture online. I bet you know more than you think you do!

I just checked online, and forum posts from February said there were about 60-70K people playing COD Ghosts online on the PS4 on any given day, and around 180K playing the PS3 version at the same time. Since that's the latest COD release and there have been no other major FPS games released on the PS3/PS4 since then to draw people away from it, it's safe to say the numbers are probably similar today. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the amount of users playing online on the 360 is even higher, as the COD series was always more popular on that console anyway.
Anyone own this game on PS3/360 who can go online and give a more accurate number?
No matter how you try to slice it, Nintendo gamers are just generally not interested in playing online, especially competitively. They either don't buy the games that feature heavy online components, or if they do, they don't play that portion of the game.
I don't play online a lot because I am busy with other things or other games a lot of the time.
When I go on, there's usually 1000+ people. Only once I have I seen it dip under the 1000 mark and that was in mid August when schools usually start up again.
There are a lot of people that play other games and do other things. Just to put it in perspective, Black Ops II sold over 11 million copies on the PS3, but whenever I watch my friend play, there are only ever 100,000+ people online.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
I don't play online cause.....well for one thing, I'm not really into it and also, I'm sure a lot are very skilled. Besides, my connection is poor.
Just because we don't play doesn't mean we're not into games anymore. It just means that we got other things to do in life. Although I really wish that playing was the only thing I can and will do forever because reality is really becoming more depressing as the years pass.
No good tv shows, people still complaining a lot about Nintendo's actions even though they have never been that way as what people think they are such as making kiddie games which is not at all right.
People want more of graphical power rather than the gaming experience and that's something we seriously need to reconsider.

Well that's something, if they were equal you'd expect about 50x more people online with the PS3 version of Ghosts. If there are ~200x more people online then that is something. That said I'm not willing to give it to you yet given that a Saturday in early February and a Wednesday in mid April aren't exactly equivalent. It may be the case though.
Here's my hypothesis. A lot of the difference between the Wii U and PS3/360 version communities is expressed in sales more than anything else. If your friends have a PS3 or a 360 you're not going to go out and buy the Wii U version in the first place. The other factor is the ease of getting a match factor. If the online experience is poor because there aren't many people online then less people will go online. Basically once a community is small enough it will fade at a faster rate. I think if there is a difference here those are the two major factors at play.
Also a bit of confirmation bias. People have a feeling that the Wii U online is dead so when they see a small number they start jumping to conclusions. If we trust kyuubikid213's numbers and there were 100k+ on BO2 for the PS3 and 1k+ for Wii U? Given the numbers BO2 did compared to Ghosts? Hey, that's pretty close to the money.
...After my experience with Tri...I'll just stay offline. Besides, almost all of the quests can be solo'ed...I rather do them by myself that with randoms/trolls/noobs.

I find it extremely sad.

Online is fun but the single player campaign I find equally as fun.
Sometimes I'm not in the mood to be social around other hunters gamers and I'll go to Port Tanzea and do some online quests solo. Sure, it's a much greater challenge that way but sometimes I just like hunting alone and going at my own pace and not having to explain myself to others.
I play online all the time, it's great fun.
I'm that one guy who stand there and does nothing, isn't that great!
What was that?! You need help to fight that monster? I'll be right back, I need popcorn to watch your failure!
I do hope we can play again real soon.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

Pfft, that's weak. There was a time when I was playing with my friends and we have one spot open for strangers. Some random dude came in and started making his own boat regardless of the room name and type. Me and my friends were not happy and we decided to troll him, HARD. We went in like normal and started killing the monster and when we were half way through, we just stopped and chill in the main camp making steaks. Dude got all mad and started talking bad, so we went back to where he is and just run around the monster and occasionally fly him into the air(I was using Great Sword). He died 3 times and it was over. Best 40 minutes of my life.

I played Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate all of the time until a few weeks ago when my Wii U decided to stop reading Wii U discs. It still runs Wii discs perfectly in Wii Mode so I'll just download my Wii U games from now on instead of risking losing my $750.00+ worth of Wii Shop and Wii U eshop downloads. I'll get this game again eventually and when I do let's hunt some monsters @Hy8ogen .

lol the best way to troll in MH3U(sad thing I don't have a WiiU to play it online) is to go as a gunner and use all the rec and boost shots in the monster! XD
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Why are several people here saying they "don't have time" to play online??
If you have time to play video games, you can most certainly spend that time playing online if you so choose. They are not mutually exclusive.
Online play presupposes a certain level of time commitment. If I play a single-player game, I can pause whenever I want and jump back into the action later. Do you really see that as an option if I'm hunting in a group in MH?
Some people don't have the time to really sit down and play online for any significant amount of time. Some people have lousy internet and are unable to play online in a stable manner. Some people prefer gaming as alone time, and don't want to spend it with other people. Some people see gaming as a social activity that they can engage in with friends and family, but have no desire to play with strangers.
Why are people so obsessed with online play these days?
