Now I'm sure you're all speechless, comes as a real shocker. However, joking aside I always do look forward to the next 3D Mario and since its coming to the Wii U I'd be interested to see if they do anything additional with the Wii U pad, a lot of it in 3D World was nice, but went by far to fast. I'd also like more atmosphere like in Galaxy and Sunshine, 3D just felt like, "welp here's your Mario game", its not necessary but I would love it. Any thoughts. Oh and of course here is the article:

I love "Super Mario Galaxy" never played the sequel, but I don't want a 3rd one. I want an extremely fresh new 3D game in my time. I missed out on Sunshine, but I loved the US commercial. All I want is a fresh new game. And besides, they said they're done with the galaxies.
Why are people suddenly discrediting 3D World? I thought it was the most creative Mario game since Galaxy. Some people are impossible to please....
But I'm very excited for this. It comes as no surprise. I'm sure there is never NOT a Mario game in development at Nintendo HQ. Though I'm very excited to see what they're going to do with the Gamepad. I hope the next game used the 64/Sunshine/Galaxy formula. I miss exploring in Mario games and finding well hidden secrets. I'm also not fond of a time limit....
I never once said Super Mario 3D World is a bad game, I find it fantastic so much so that I've beaten it 100% and yes collected all the stickers. What I'm saying is that it had no atmosphere, I didn't feel like I was exploring the cosmos or a vacation horribly gone wrong, I just felt like here's a level, here's the next level, here's the next level. That being said I loved the Boo Mansion and Train Levels, but everything else felt generic. Great game, great gameplay, great soundtrack, great challenges, no atmosphere.

I think I'm in the minority, because I'd actually love to see a Galaxy 3 on the Wii U.
I'm not opposed to something new though, as long as they go back to the usual style of 3D Mario and not the half 2D, half 3D thing that 3D Land/World have going on, and as long as it's not Sunshine.
I actually don't care if they do anything at all with the GamePad, I'd kind of like to go back to Galaxy's Wii Remote + Nunchuck controls, they just worked so well.
it should be a pseudo 8-bit Mario with 3D enviroments!!! XD
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I wanna see a return to the open world formula we had in both 64 and Sunshine, particularly 64 where we could do most objective in any order. This and the tight gameplay of the Galaxy games and 3D World as I thought these games were some of the tightest Mario games to control, from a gameplay perspective.
As for gamepad usage.. I can't think of anything to be honest and when I played 3D World I used the pro controller 98% of the time, the 2% reserved for the stages that required the gamepad.

Yeah, the 3D Mario games have been getting progressively more linear to the point where they are too similar to the 2D Mario games. I want to be able to explore large areas again like I could in 64 and Sunshine.
I like everything Mario, ( 2D and 3D adventures, not counting spin-off's and sports games as I haven't tried them all ) People complain of rehashing the same old formula, for me I'll take it... I would eat lobster and filet mignon for weeks not complaining that it was the same old thing as last time..
I'd like something that combines the best of mario 64 and galaxy. It would be great to have more hidden secrets in the hub world and more explorable levels, but with the originality of mario galaxy. It would be even better, but less likely, if there was a completely open world mario game, sort of like Jak and Daxter
I'm in the 2D Mario camp so 3D Land/World was just right for me. Why everyone wants to turn the Mushroom Kingdom into Hyrule is beyond me. I don't want to wander around with Mario. Mario needs a course, a linearity, a start and stop.
Not the same, Mario open worlds have always been compact but being big enough to have some elbow room and have hoards of secrets all over making you want to explore. Where as Zelda is just wide land scapes that go on and make you feel small in the giant world that is Hyrule.

Mario64 was such an awesome experience for an open world game. That needs to happen again. Not the exact same thing, but following the open world formula that makes you explore.
If I want a linear, start and stop game, I can always go back to SMB 1, 2, 3, and SMW.
The "New" Super Mario Bros games are more of the same, new levels, same linear progression.
