153 hours here. Man, such an addicting game!
In comparison, I've logged in 284 hours in Smash Bros. and 71 hours in MK8. Speaking of Mario Kart 8, I haven't played it in nearly 4 months. X(
@Kinan: Yea, I have made it to S on my own twice. I would rather try playing in a coordinated manner now and hopefully it won't take me as long as it did the first two times. Quite frankly if I can avoid it I will. I want to have familiar teams now/ It's not fun being stuck on horrible teams or teams that don't really fit well together
Ok, now I gotta ask: I just looked at my friendlist on my Wii U that almost everyone is playing MK8 right now. Do you guys play together in an online match or a tournament or what? Maybe I'll join you later, just played Splatoon for ~ 3 hours (and ranked up to A ) and have to go to the supermarket before work.
@wisdomsprince: I kinda agree with @Kinan, although for completely different reasons: The matchmaking in squads is sometimes terrible. I've lost way more points in squad than ranked battle. Still like playing in a squad though.
And actually, @Kinan I also disagree. It's more important to learn how to fight teams that do cooperate (and use voice-chat). Because they're harder to beat than a team of random users. I also achieved (almost?) every (first-time) rank up in ranked battle. I don't know about you guys, but I played way more ranked than squad, especially before I discovered this thread and also, before squad battles were introduced into the game. So I'd say (at least for me) playing alone in ranked is the standard mode, playing together in a squad is a bonus mode. @Spoony_Tech: & @OorWullie: Don't get this the wrong way (everyone likes different things and that's totally okay), but how can you play so much pinball? Doesn't it bore you to death eventually? ^^ Even in the old days, I always found this type of game repetitive after just a few matches.
Oh and my Splatoon count says 225 hours. I don't know my GTA V count, since it's a non-steam game, but I'd say Splatoon is #2 behind Football Manager 15 (453 hours). #3 is shared between Mario Kart 8 and the Crew (111 hours). Or maybe I clocked more hours in GTA V, I don't know.
@Kinan: Ah, now I get what you meant. Hadn't thought about it that way. Although I always wonder: How is this boosting supposed to work? I mean, you can't win (=get boosted) if you're playing terrible all the time. So even if you have three awesome teammates, a fourth crappy player should ruin their w/d ratio in the long run.
And I also think that voice chat can be a (slight) advantage, but not such a big one that you couldn't compensate it with good team-play (which is totally possible without voice chat). Whether in a squad made of users from this thread or in random matches (or rarely in a twin squad with another twin squad), in both I experienced good constellations where everyone worked great together, without communicating much. I think what's more important is that all four players have a good map awareness.
@Kinan: Yeah that's exactly how I meant it. You don't need voice chat if you have four halfway "intelligent" players who know what they're doing and harmonise perfectly with each other (which doesn't mean they don't make mistakes at all, that's just human). But if that's not the case, I guess voice chat can actually make a difference.
My GOTY? Legend Of Zelda: Splat of the child. Ah no, I meant LoZ: Breath of the SPLATOOOON!
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels
I can normally tell what my teammates are thinking in random. Generally it's either "TheXReturns is awful", or "TheXReturns is Great!!!" Or occasionally "Don't jump to me- oh, he has Super Jump. That's ok."
Also, is anyone up for a Splatoon Tournament either tomorrow, at the same time the MK8 tournament was today, or next Saturday? If we get enough players we can probably field four teams of four. I think 12 players (3 teams) would have to be the minimum amount of players, if we were doing it, so let's see if we can get some players together.
I'll work on the assumption that we're doing it tomorrow, but if we have less than 8, It'll have to be pulled, probably. (But, again, probably not. It'll just be 2 teams)
If you post your Main Weapon, Sub Weapon, Rank (Roughly), and Highest Rank been to, I can probably try and organize fair teams as far as possible.
Also, sub-note, this will be on Private Battles, so don't worry about rank going down.
THe new stage was awesome on SZ, but judging from that impression, think it could be terrible for RM. Because the only way to get to the enemy base is through the rotating platforms, otherwise they're inaccessible for the opposition (at least in SZ and TW). This means both RM-bases would have to be in the middle of the map, which would be really cramped.
Are my suspicions true or did they add ways to get to the enemy base in RM?
My GOTY? Legend Of Zelda: Splat of the child. Ah no, I meant LoZ: Breath of the SPLATOOOON!
@Shani Meh. Considering the good numbers we got today, It'd be nice to have something organized for splatoon. Also, it's completely the opposite in RM. It's waaaaaaay too big, as the RM podiums are right next to their base.
It's either that or Smash, but Smash only has four players in each match. Splatoon has double that. I'm kinda hoping we get 8 for Splatoon, as that's just one private battle, but I don't want to exclude anyone from playing, which is why I suggested a team tournament. From what I can tell, it works ok on other boards, like Gamefaqs.
@shani: Well for me it's all about chasing the high score and finding the best way possible to get there. I've had games last as long as 5 plus hours and over time That adds up fast. I would say my longest game ever was about 8 to 10 hours long. Out of about 45 to 50 tables I'm on the top 10 in all but maybe one or 2 in the world and last I checked I had about 15 or 16 #1's. For about 2 years I treated it like it was my job lol. Obsessed just like this game here.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@Spoony_Tech: Wow, then you must be really good! I'm happy for you if you have that much fun with it. @TheXReturns: We played Splatoon private battles with 8 players in this thread before, but it just rarely happens that 8 players are online at the same time and want to do it. I think it would still be easier to get 8 players together in this thread than in the other one.
I would play MK8 though, but it would be cool to play in the regular online mode (like someone starts and then everyone joins him/her) instead of the tournaments. Because getting 12 players at the same time would be even harder than in Splatoon.
I'm not really good at Smash though. ^^
About RM on the Museum: Ok, but that still makes more sense. So far I liked the big maps for RM (like Flounder Heights), they are tactically more demanding than straight-forward mapüs like Arowana Mall.
@Shani Probably. But, hey, whatever works to get 8 people or more online at the same time. I'm decent at smash, under for fun rules, but if you put me against someone who plays in professional tournaments, I would get flattened in a matter of moments.
Museum RM is basically a big open plain in the middle, with the five rotating platforms, and it's difficult to make any headway. The metagame will evolve for it though, and I'm suer you will get some knockouts. I didn't experience any knockouts in my time on it.
