@crimsontadpoles: Ouch, looks like Rob wasn't with us that game.

@crimsontadpoles: Wow, I only got +6 that game. One more, though, and I should rank up.

@crimsontadpoles: Wow, that was some of the most beautiful displays of teamwork I've ever seen! And now I'm an A- for the first time!

Wait, Team Planes lost?
I'm starting to think Splatfest is rigged. Not one time has the more popular team won the most matches. There's something off there...

I don't think it's designed to work like that. When tallying up the points, the outcome of the battles is multiplied by four, so the battles have four times the impact as popularity.

Also, I'll not entirely sure, but if I remember correctly, Dogs won their Splatfest by being the most popular.

Pretty sure he meant that there hasn't been a Splatfest in America where the popular team has won by wins as well. There's been only one Splatfest where the popular team won by matches as well, Art vs Science. I think the main reason why the least popular team usually gets the wins is due to the fact they never have to face their own team unlike popular teams where half of their matches will involve them battling their own team so not everyone in the popular team could contribute as much points as the unpopular team. This is probably why Popularity is considered for the tally to compensate for the many times a team would have to deal with facing their own team.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Guess I was wrong about every less popular team winning the most matches thing (I forgot about that), but my point still stands. Even when the popularity tally compensates for the less popular side, it can't really be a coincidence that the less popular team wins the most matches almost all the time. Initially, I was thinking the more popular team wasn't pulling their weight, but now it's automatically the more popular team that loses.

God first.

@crimsontadpoles: Yeah, I need to stop getting myself roped into 1 on 1 situations as a dynamo roller. I'm better off making a mess out of general chaos than a controlled environment.

@crimsontadpoles: Damn, I got so close to winning it for us! (had the rainmaker at the end)

@crimsontadpoles: Wow, lost only 4 points that time. The game haveth mercy.

@crimsontadpoles: My internet is acting up a little, sorry about that. I think I got it back, though.

So some of the images from the Splatoon artbook have been shown and surprisingly, the artbook also contains a bit of information about the world of Splatoon.
Untitled
Prevously unknown concept art for the Squid Sisters.

Also it describes a bit more about the Octarians. From what I've been told (since I can't read Japanese), in one of the book's captions it says that all Octarians are coming from the cut-off tentacles of one single source and those specific Octarians are incapable of reproduction. Also it was stated that the more tentacles they have the higher their rank and intelligence.

Edit: Also, Sheldon appeared to have been originally designed as a Puffer Fish before later being changed to a Horse Shoe Crab. Octo Valley was also designed significantly different as well. It was originally designed to appear far more post-apocalyptic.

I feel like there's something messed up with the matchmaking or how they calculate the battle percentage, because it never seems to agree with my experience playing the Splatfest. Like played as Autobots and they were the best Splatfest teammates I'd ever had at the point yet they lost by the worst margin ever. Then played as Science and went a brutal 9-21 between trying the first night and the next morning and gave up at Champion because all the teammates that kept coming and going were unbelievably awful and I wouldn't have had the time to spend making it to royalty by losing over and over, yet they only lost by the smallest margin. Then played as Planes and went an amazing 33-10 over two different sessions where I was constantly having amazing teammates coming and going, only to have Planes lose by a big margin. If there are truly these margins like 55:45 in win percentage, you'd think between all the different teammates you have and all the different opponents you face, you should notice some correlation with how your battles go. I'm convinced there's either something broken with the matchmaking that condemns you to be placed with a certain caliber of player for the duration of a Splatfest or they're just making the battle percentage up and totally ignoring what actually takes place during the Splatfest. I understand maybe I'd randomly be lucky or unlucky and have vastly different results than the overall results sometimes, but I feel like there should be some correlation, which there just doesn't seem to be any except for the results actually being anti-correlated with my own experience.
