Aside from some biased information and points, it was a pretty good read. Honestly what interests me more is reading the comments on it. They usually do provide a great deal of insight on the publics attitude towards a subject, although a great deal can by biased and strange, to say the least.

Nice read, though I still think articles like this need to differentiate more between modes. Camping in splat zone mode is essential for most 1 splat zone levels - 2 zones are much more fluid. Painting everything in splat zones is very bad, especially when you are on the wrong side in bluefin depot just painting it all wily nily.

But it's good to see the coverage. And is that THE Cracked? As in Mad magazine clone? Can't believe that's still around.

Woohoo. That's great. It looks like Nintendo may have a staple franchise on their hands now.

I'll ink to that!

10% of the install base, that's gotta be considered a hit, right?

At the moment it looks like a basic heavy hitter with moderate-ish fire rate and poor range. It's basically a shot gun.

A million seller is always good for Nintendo. Especially on the Wii U. This game has potential to keep on selling well throughout the Wii U's life, however long that may be.

I called it btw that it would get there before E3 but I'm not sure when it hit a million sales and if that's retail only or not. I want to play this game everyday and its been a long while since I wanted to play a game like that.

Very much a hit. It's a new IP, plus it reached a million units in less than 1 month - far faster than games like Hyrule Warriors, DKC Tropical Freeze (TF took a while to reach 600k, let alone 1M), etc. Not sure how long Wind Waker HD took to sell 1 million.

Hey guys, what do you all think of the inkzooka? Some people think its useless, but I honestly find it to be amazing, especially when your enemies are marked.

Inkzooka is a good Special and I used it a lot in the past. (Feels like I have been playing Splatoon for years now.)
Some tips:

  • Chose the Inkzooka spot carefully, since the movement in different directions isn't good while blasting with it.
  • Avoid fire it on small ledges close to water, since you move slightly backwards with each shot.
  • If you dive into (and up again) your own ink after each Inkzooka shot, you can fire the next shot slightly faster
  • If you want to use it to cover as much as possible at the end of a Turf War match, practice the optimal positions in advance (specially for those maps with lots of vertical variations).

Btw, those million sold units are one of the few times where Wii U game sales actually matters, since there will be a bigger community to play with for us players.

jump

Are there any headphones head gear in the game that have 3 slots without the need for a snail? I've got the normal & colourful ones with 2 slots and I've assumed there would be another one with 3 but I've yet to see them in the shops or others wearing one.

I don't think so, Studio and Colourful are the only headphones I've seen.

Sounded good to me on paper and I was very happy to buy a weapon that had it, but I really don't like it in practice. Maybe I'm just imagining things, but my fingers never seem to know what to do. Pressing right stick for sub is normal, but then it shoots w/ the normal fire button instead of the sub. At least that's how my fingers feel, something is off. I Also don't like the kickback, and finally getting it ready, seeing somebody to shoot, and then getting killed. So I've been sticking w/ inkstrike while I hide around corners to get it off, then swimming into it and shooting people who think they are being clever by just taking a few steps back beyond the blast radius. Or I shoot them in the back while running away. Also comes in handy in 2 splat zone levels, defend 1, shoot the other.

The Inkzooka is in my opinion, one of the hardest specials to avoid. Simply because it's shots are very fast and they can clip through objects. I love combining it with the Echolocator and taking out a large number of people, and especially using it to take out players who are trying to keep the high ground. I think it is, like a lot of things in Splatoon are, underrated.

So recently I came across a new critique about Splatoon. It was one that I had never really heard, and it was talking about how Splatoons aiming controls were broken and unskillful. He cited that the aiming controls would seem to be incredibly poor, almost to the point that they would be broken and dreadful in anything combat related.

I found his opinion interesting, although I still disagree with him about the severity, as he saw it as a deal breaker. So I was wondering, what do you all think about Splatoon's aiming controls, and do you sort of agree with the critique.

I don't know if he means the gyroscop motion control or just the control in general. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with neither.
