If they don't release a lot of maps then I suggest having them altered drastically. Think Mario kart mirror courses. If anything just a few things swapped here and there would make the maps a bit more refreshing.

I finally played a bit of it! Single player is fun so far, but I haven't played enough to have an opinion on anything. Undecided of which controls I like better yet, it feels ideal to just move and press x instead of using gyro to actually move the camera. Gyro seems best when you're using it to just face one direction and shoot at everything around you. Probably not gonna play much multiplayer until I beat single player.
Would play more today, but my leg decided that movement is awful and pain so I guess that's not happening!

Don't know what your definition of "a lot of maps" is, but the Splatoon Direct showed 9 extra map slots in addition to the 5 in the day 1 package.

Think of the gyro only as support for fast and accurate aiming. Do the big camera movements with the twin sticks.
A very good video about how the abilities stack etc in Splatoon:
Nice video. I know Judd normally talks about all of that but I never known the number (%) difference, which brand have a better shot at what sub abilities and the "shots to kill". Almost make me want to buy the guide book.
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

I finally got a chance to play Splatoon today, and I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase. Played single player for a bit and got halfway through World 2. It's nothing super impressive, but it's still fun.
Multiplayer is a blast, and I've already reached level 5. My first few matches our team blew out the other one by a landslide, but I had some much closer matches later on. I've consistently been on the top of my team with a few second place finishes as well. Covering the map with ink is so addictive, but I guess that's why I was racking up so many points as well.

You'll have a lot more fun in World 3, there are a couple of new gameplay mechanics added to liven things up. Played World 4 today, died playing 2 of the levels. 1 had me rage quit, had to go to the bathroom and come back to it later. The other I was just too nonchalant about but beat it fairly easily once I decided to take it seriously. Boss was still fairly easy though, weird.

Just played two levels from World 3 and indeed, they were much more interesting. Even though the single player isn't groundbreaking, I'm glad they included it. It doesn't feel like an afterthought and its helped me to hone my skills for multiplayer.
Speaking of multiplayer, I really hate the Kraken special move. I probably just need more time to learn how to counter it, but there have been too many times I've been killed out of nowhere from that thing.
Splat zones are surprisingly fun! I didn't think i'd like it as much as turf wars, but it's much more my style of gameplay, and you can actually carry those games! ^_^ I'm sure it'll get harder once I get to higher ranks, but right now I'm just dominating.
And I really don't know what everyone's talking about (not on the forums, on the news articles) with these op guns or w/e. Maybe it's because it's potentially the one I'm using (Splattershot Pro), but all the guns seem decently balanced and I haven't had a game yet where I lost because a gun was straight up better than mine. It's all about playing to your gun's strengths, and there's always that paint wall sub that beats any gun if you use it right so...
I will say this: mines are a bit ridiculous. Thankfully not too many people use/have them.
@ThePirateCaptain Yeah the Kraken can literally pop out of nowhere and its a pain that they are invincible. Your best bet is to be aware of any rollers and when they get their special up (I think it makes a noise and they start sparkling), and then when they activate it, squid away as fast as you can. I think normal squids are faster than the kraken, so if you catch them transforming you can out run—ahem, swim them.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels

The kraken from what I've noticed can't make sharp turns. I've used that to my advantage and dodged left or right in squid/humanoid form. Sort of like an inky matador. Ole!

i dodge a kraken once like 5 times in a row, the reason i managed to survive i had both of the speed up abilities and the other player forgot/didnt know how to do the spin attack.
Also since the kraken kind of acts like a squid, they will fall through any grates so you can be safe in some areas. I hate it whenever I fire a charger shot at someone, they will usually use the bubble shield or kraken at the same time...
My problem with the gyro controls is simply that it's too sensitive. I was getting seasick just standing still, because every little movement registered with it...
I want to like the charge-type weapon, but it actually requires accuracy...if I could stand the motion controls, it'd probably work great for that, but I can't so...I just gotta aim better.
Actually, it requires more than just accuracy, now that I think about it. You need good timing for your charges, too - both for your range and power. You also need to know when to fight and when to run...Damn...guess I'll give up on that weapon for now...
Had this lv 20 in my ranked battles with literally the best aim I've ever seen. Ended every game with 10+ kills and no one was safe from him. I stil have nightmares...
I finally gave the single player a shot yesterday and was glued for about an hour and a half. Got to the third world and love how each world is like a puzzle to get to. Playing online so much has made it a bit easier though since I charge forward like I'm online anyways lol!

I just burned through the single player as well (maybe took me 4 hours). I have to say, the final boss may be one of the most insane fights I have ever done. It probably is the best Nintendo designed final battle in recent memory.

Well you'll be very excited when you get to world 5, finding the levels was harder than beating them. Lost a few times to the final boss before having to quit to make dinner for the boys. Cant try again until after the boys go to bed. (My wife usually does that but she's on a party boat that debarked before she could get off so now shes basically kidnapped and wont be home until around midnight. I thought she was having a nervous breakdown when she called on the phone, poor thing.)
