Oh, that additional time is meant as a penalty for the team who lost their base. So using your example, if the team managed to take out 30 points off their total score but then loses their base, they will get a 30 point penalty they must take off first if the opposing team then captures the base.

It almost never adds up back to 100 iirc, even if you only capture it for a few seconds it'll only add a penalty that puts you around 99. The biggest single penalty is 75, and that's if you go from 100 to 1 before the other team capturing it (which happened to me...), if you chain it you may be able to get it higher.

Ahh I see. I'm not so sure about knockouts, though. I just lost 13-0 and it wasn't a knockout.
Edit: my guess is that there's just a point differential that must be exceeded in order for it to be a knockout. And evidently that point differential is greater than 13 =P
Thinking back to when Splatoon released, I thought that not having Ranked Battles was a bad idea. However, I know see how it was a smart idea. My assumption as to why there needed to be a certain number of players to reach level 10 is because of the number of players and how invested they are. If Ranked Battles were available from the start, I'm pretty sure it would be tedious to find players online since they are either in Regular Battles or Ranked Battles, thus reducing your chances of encounters and more waiting in the lobby. It was good on Nintendo to try and take the safe route so that way you could actually play against people online and have an easier time doing so.
To any who reads this, I hope what I said makes sense.

I hope in a future update we get the option to (quickly) change weapon sets between matches. Not that big of a deal, but it would be nice to not have to exit the lobby and reconnect after I find my weapon isn't clicking.
I think the Inkstrike should be tweaked too. I hate when it's used at the last second of the match so that the team gets extra ink down after the match is over.

That happens with all projectiles. Plenty of time I have thrown an Ink Bomb out last second just to get that much more Turf
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I've done this twice. It's awesome seeing that ink swirl appear after the game has stopped!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I mean it's possible, but considering in Japan the Wii U only got a slight bump, I doubt the number will get much higher in subsequent weeks. If anything the success of this game speaks to the good attach rate for current Wii U owners.
What do you mean slight bump? It more than doubled the sales and was the number one selling console.
Splatoon appeals to current wii u owners. It's not going to be much of a system seller for people who don't already own a Wii U
I disagree, I think word of mouth and the need for something different will get people to buy a system just for this game. Im of course not talking millions but I could see 100k buying it for this game.

Well, two things:
1) It wasn't a slight bump. The sales numbers more than doubled. Granted, it was still a very low number, but that says more about the current dedicated console market situation in Japan than anything.
2) The Wii U actually has a relatively respectable install base in Japan, so the attach rate isn't really that great in this case. There are more than two times Wii U owners as PS4 owners there. Yes, this is because the Wii U was released a year earlier, but it obviously took only a year in the West for the PS4 to surpass the Wii U sales numbers, meaning the situation in Japan is indeed quite different.
Does anyone know if you can replay the training mission when you first start the game? I want to show the game to someone, but don't want to bombard them with a mission in Octo Valley.
I guess I could take them to the Dojo, but that training mission does a good job of explaining the basics.
True, it's good when it's on your team, but for me more often than not it's been from the opposing team, and we lose by a small margin.
In general I think that when the timer ends, the game's over and no more ink should touch the ground. It's just an unfair advantage if you ask me.
Well, the Inkstrike has to be useful for something in Turf War? It's more of a Splat Zones special. During an actual match, it doesn't cover that much ink and it is easy to avoid.
